RE: bracketology
I have to say, if the actual bracket ends up looking anything like Lunardi's Bracketology from late last night (Mar. 10), I would really like Kent State's chances to make the sweet 16.
I think Washington State is a pretty good match up in round one as a 7 vs. 10 ... And I think KSU would match up very well with Duke. Of course, I've never been an admirer of Duke or Krzyzewski, so my opinion is extremely biased, but I am not all that impressed by the Blue Devils. The ACC is a bit down this year. This is not a very different Duke team from last year's club, and KSU is far better than it was last year when the Flashes gave the Blue Devils all they could handle in Cameron.
The big problem, Duke is going to get every call against whoever they face in Raleigh. You know Krzyzewski, the Blue Devils and their fans feel they are entitled to every call anyway.
All of these thoughts bring me right back to 2002. As satisfying as it was watching Indiana beat Duke in the Sweet 16 in Kentucky, I'm absolutely 100-percent convinced that Kent State would have tipped it up with Oklahoma in the Final Four had they met Duke in the Elite Eight.
I keep thinking of what Antonio Gates would have done to Mike Dunleavy. He never would have known what hit him. I'll never forget Notre Dame's Ryan Humphrey just abusing Dunleavy in the round of 32 in Greenville.
Anyway, obviously the bracket won't end up working out anything like this, but I think that would be a pretty good setup. Heck, I even like Belmont to give Duke a game if that was the actual bracket. I may be crazy, and I'm definitely biased, but I really don't think Duke is as good as so many so-called experts believe.

True, but not the same calls they'd get at home nor is it the same atmosphere they get at Cameron. This is where the Carolina game earlier in the season is supposed to help us. After going to Chapel Hill we should be better prepared for what we'll experience by playing a Duke team in Raleigh.

The guy I watch is saying Kent is number 11 and will play Pittsburgh. He also has them as a 25 RPI so that 11 is a pretty low seed. It indicates he thinks they have a soft RPI. Probably because of the 3 bad losses.

Like our chances against SC, but not against Kansas AT ALL. They absolutely destroyed Miami and OU... Hopefully we get back to the Duke matchup, I like that a lot better.

RE: bracketology
Maybe someone has posted this...but what does CSU knocking off Butler mean to us? One one hand, the Bulldogs have to be in, so it takes away a bubble spot. It hurts. On the other, what does CSU beating the #10 team TWICE do for our RPI?

RE: bracketology
My thought is it looks more favorably on us. We beat the team that beat Butler. If CSU and Butler both get in, we should be right there too.
BUT Butler does draw more fans. I know that is not official selection procedure, but lets be real here.

RE: bracketology
Can we please avoid playing an athletic big guy in the first two rounds!!! OU (Longar Longar) and Georgetown (Hibbard) have two of the best.

2 *Georgetown
15 *Winthrop
@ Birmingham 3/21, 23
7 Vanderbilt
10*Kent St
Vandy has a pretty big freshman who contributes quite a bit offensively. But I think Q's experience and quickness can neutralize a bigger frosh. I just don't want to see another Aaron Gray in the first round...that guy was a monster.

The good thing about Omaha is you can fly cheap on Southwest Airlines to get their from Cleveland. Might need to think about that trip...

RE: bracketology
RPI now at 21 and Lunardi has us as a 9 seed in the East playing Arkansas and then a rematch with #1 Carolina. Teams with much lower RPI's getting much better seeding consideration, this is where Dave C. is right about us being better off as a 10.

RE: bracketology
For our RPI of 20, we deserve a 5 seed actually. This thing is set up to favor all the big teams, not fair at all.
