RE: WVU fans. Keep your head.
I hope he falls flat on his face! I hope OSU absolutely destroys Michgan every year. The thing that pisses me off is the way he handled everything. He has actually set WVU back a few years because of his selfishness. If he had been up front with all this in the beginning, instead of swearing his allegiance a week before, it may have been a little different. I hope we don't lose recruits over this, but I'm sure we're out of the running for Pryor and Jenkins now. Could possibly lose a couple more.

Ohio St cant stop the spread offense. You did watch Illinois beat Ohio St with that spread offense, so I am sure that RR will beat Ohio St using the same type of offense. If Ohio St is smart, they will practice on how to defend the spread offense. You pretty much need to have a quick athletic defense like USF to defend that type of offense.

RE: WVU fans. Keep your head.
In 6+ years at Ohio State I've seen him outcoached twice. Last year's title game, this year's Illinois game (I watch all Ohio State games, grew up a big OSU fan). In 3 years of watching almost all of WVU's game I've seen Rich Rod outcoached at least one time a year. WVU should have been undefeated this year, but instead lost 2 games. Both games were due to coaching IMO, obviously the Pittsburgh game was.
He may win a game here and there, but I'm guessing that Tressel wins 3 out of every 4 games against RR, as Tressel for the most part has been a great big game coach.

UM doesn't have the players to run the spread offense. They will have to go with a Tebow type of situation.

Fully agree, he was outcoached by the two SEC coaches with a big time spread offense (Meyer and Zook). However, the difference is that he will now have a better idea of how to gameplan for it based on all the common opponents they will have. Tressel has been a great game planner in his time in Columbus, and when it comes to big games I believe he is WAY over .500. Last year he was outcoached in the title game, this year I think LSU has a lot more talent. It will be a better game, however.

RE: Why did DickRod jump?
1. feels he hit the ceiling of what he could do at wvu.
2. one of the top cfb jobs was offered.
no matter what, the timing of his move is awful. He's basically leaving a program 'he and his family love' high and dry.

Bull Daly Wrote:I know it sucks right now that your coach left, but I think WVU will be fine in the long run. I am hoping that WVU will get someone that wants to stay in MorganTown, not someone that kept looking to get out the past few years. I look at how much better WVU came out for the basketball program in getting Huggins. I dont think Huggins will go anywhere, and your basketball program will strive. Maybe someone like Terry Bowden will take the WVU job and continue your on field success. Good luck to WVU, and keep your heads up because the Mountaineers will be fine.
Thanks for the kind thoughts. Most WVU fans are 1) pissed at Rich for lying through his teeth and turning his back on his alma mater after the university bent over backwards to give him what he wanted, and 2) excited about the future with a new head football coach.
I was born and raised in Morgantown. I was a Mountaineer fan before I even really understood what football was. I will be a Mountaineer until the day I die, and hopefully that is a long way off. We will have many coaching changes in the future. Many ups and downs. WVU will go forward and will be successful.

RE: Why did DickRod jump?
I'm tempted to call him "Tricky Dick." but I really like RR. I don't believe he will be as successful at Michigan as some say and I don't think WVU will do a UofL next year.
Life will go on at both schools and from my perspective, he gave a lot to WVU and sacrificed a lot to be there this season.
One game away from the title game against a 28 point underdog, it's time to move on. I don't think his luck would have been any better next season inthe BE. But $1.8 million to $2.5 million with a $4 million buyout- it just doesn't add up to me. Unless his year two salary at Michigan is going over $3 million or something.

1). The $$$
2). The thought that he can win a MNC easier there.
3). The relationship with the AD has been strained over the years.
4). Dick was guaranteed some things with last years go-around but haven't come to fruition as of yet.
Can anybody elaborate on 3 and 4???
I have my own theories but will keep it to myself.
Choice #5 would be ego
The comments that the Governor and President of WV made today strongly implied that Rich thought he was too good or big for WVU

Money talks and nobody walks. Slayton and White are leaving too. He didn't want to rebuild again especially after that embarassment against Pitt the other week. Need I say more.

What did the governor say? I've got to say that this surprises me after he turned down Alabama last year. Maybe the timing of Slayton and White coming back for this season had more to do with him staying at WVU than loyalty to his alma mater.

Governor basically said that RichRod has turned into a different man over the past two years, then blamed it on the agents always pushing for more money.
