I really cannot see what is wrong with this schedule. The bad thing is we get our tough games in bunches but if we get hot them those can be some good winning streaks.

Tough schedule for sure. 13 games will wear a team down and you guys have some toughies early (as usual). I especially hate the DEC 2 date of the Tech-NMSU game. I think NMSU fans will all be back in the basketball mood by Dec 2.

Oh well, weather in Las Cruces is usually pretty decent in early Dec.

The WAC always hands us at least one home game during quarter break(a source of great frustration for me personally)...not this year...this year, they've given us 2 home games during quarter break. Benson is lucky I don't live in Denver 01-lauramac2

I don't think playing at Nebraska, at Clemson, or at TAMU are particularly brutal in and of themselves right now. What makes it tough is playing all of those games in the same season. Three pay day trips to play BCS schools is a lot to ask of a non-BCS school.

SJSU had a similar schedule in 2002 when we went on the road to play Washington, Illinois, Stanford, and Ohio State. That year we had a 13 game schedule with no break. I wrote a letter to our former AD Chuck Bell and let him have it for making a schedule like that. To top it off, he even had us go on the road to Arkansas State. The thing was our team was halfway decent that year, and missed out a a bowl by one game. We lost the season finale to Fresno by three points after leading at the half. I still believe we might have won that game if our players weren't spent from that awful schedule.

Check out this road swing...@Clemson, @A&M, @Boise St. Boise St. is a key WAC game that Tech needs to win if they are going to compete for a conference championship (which Tech fans expect them to do every year). Because of the two games prior to the Boise game, our chances of winning at Boise after going to two consecutive BCS schools is near impossible. I believe it's @Nebraska, Nicholls St., @Clemson, @A&M, then @Boise...if our boys make it through that, they deserve some sort of medal. The dawgs have an NFL road schedule this year.

Well since you have palm trees growing and surviving in Cruces I would say you have pretty decent weather year-round . . . LOL!!!

Cruces is a great little city; I love Mesilla and La Posta!

Exactly. If we're in a bowl situation again next year and it comes down to 7-5 Louisiana Tech (3rd, WAC) vs. a good CUSA or 10-2 MAC school, LaTech loses. Why risk scheduling yourselves out of a bowl game?

You are exactly right, its for the money. La Tech cant afford to play in Ruston. Their average gate per home game in 2004 season was only $110,000. Cant pay the bills with that. Dont make any difference what the "reported attendance" is, its dollars in the till that counts and Tech just cant hack it in that respect.

I only commented about why La Tech has no choice but play the body bag and away games. If you consider that negative then thats your problem. If you want to get sarcastic, as you did, then I could really dish out some negatives about La Tech but will only comment when it is appropriate.

Why do you care?? If you go on the CUSA board and post that the school you claim to support has a 50k seat capacity in its stadium I won't care. Are you going to police everyones posts or just the ones related to Tech? You are a psycho obsessed wth Tech. Just like you were on the old WAC board .....organizer.

Why don't you at least wait until football season to continue your diatribe, Eager Eagle? Honestly, I have never seen any message board poster on any forum regarding any agenda who was as patheticly insecure as you.

Gee, you guys make me feel real good. I like being noticed. And, by the way, I have looked high and low and can never find a post that identifies me with CUSA or any CUSA school other than those that ACCUSE me of being affiliated with either. I really think it is important to correct those Tech guys who dont know that Tech is actually more than 30min from Shreveport. They might wait until 30min before gametime to leave and of course would be extremely late. Just trying to help.

Not for me. I can make the trip in 30. If you wanna be a granny driver and follow the "speed limit" maybe you can make it in 45.

Yes I get the 5 home games part but everyone is blowing this schedule up to be worse than it really is. Let's not forget 2 of those away games give us home games in a few years so there is a reason for the games. I can't see how this schedule is any worse than usual because we always have few home games and we usually have worse OOC games.

Your first mistake is discounting the talent and ability of A&M, Nebraska, and Clemson. They could ALL be top 25 teams next year and with good seasons, Nebraska and Clemson could be top 15 or higher. It's not necessarily a worse schedule than usual, it's just that Tech fans are tired of this kind of crap. IMO, the WAC office has let Tech down this year by scheduling 2 home games during qtr. break...that's total garbage and it happens every year (not the 2 games, but we always have 1 on quarter break). These are very educated men (Jim Oakes and Karl Benson) and they should figure out how to avoid home games when NO students will be in town.

Oh, and that poser Eager Eagle is no more a USM fan that I'm a LSU fan. He's a pathetic little man who probably lives in Monroe and cheers for the ULM _________!

Everyone else is looking at aTm, Nebraska, and Clemson like they will be fighting it out for the national championship game this year so I will gladly take the opposite side. They will not be top 25 teams. None of the teams will even win their conference (or their division). Auburn, Miami, and Tennessee was quite a bit worse (and throw Fresno State in the middle of that). Yes I am tired of schedules like this (and I have been for years) but I can't agree with anyone that thinks this schedule is setting us up for failure.

And while we are calling Benson out on his bad scheduling I would like to know why we have ONE game on ESPN.
Fresno- 4
Nevada-3
Boise-3
Hawaii-1 maybe a 2nd
Tech-1.
I would think Nevada @ Tech would make a good matchup for ESPN also or maybe @ Boise. I guess ESPN has just fallen so much in love with our game against Fresno they don't want to give us any others.
