RE: Pitt Game Thread
Thats enough I will take my gluttony for punishment tommorow watching the Bengals' D play the Jokes.
A completely winable game flushed down the toilet. This was uglier than the game last week. Way to many penalties. Way to many mental mistakes. No excuse for any of it really. There is no moral victory (Do those really exist?) and I don't know what Kelly has to tell them to get them back to what they were. Yes the competition is greater, but we were a better football team before UL. Maybe it is the publicity, maybe it's the fact they need a bye week, but I don't want excuses I want results. We may all hate the way the Boss plays the games with the Yanks, but he is right in not accepting excuses.

I say 6-6 because they'll have given up so they can't beat Syracuse at Syracuse.

The stupid thing is, I expect UC to not only come to play against USF, it wouldn't shock me if UC beats them. UC has stepped up against the good teams. But these last 2 losses UC expect Louisville and Pittsburgh to quit, which is ridiculous.

Everyone is drawing far too many conclusions from one result. One game, thats it. This team is inherently capable of beating every team remaining on the schedule. The team thought they could just put the helmets on and win, which isn't the case. It is one game people.

The problem is that Cincinnati shouldve beaten Louisville and Pittsburgh. The fans expected it to happen and they played like crap. Now they've got some serious work to do if they want a better season than last year. With USF and WVU left on the schedule, it's going to be hard to win more than 2 games to end the regular season.

Just like Oklahoma was supposed to beat Colorado, USC was supposed to beat Stanford and so on and so forth. If someone would have told you that UC would be 6-2 after 8 weeks, and that UC would have spent multiple weeks in the polls would you take it?

yea.. but Oklahoma and USC aren't trying to make a name for themselves, build a normally apathetic fan base, etc. For us, these loses have been killers.....

RE: Pitt Game Thread
Sure I would have taken 6-2. Anyone being honest with themselves would have, too.
This is a team with a new staff, new schemes, lot of guys playing their first year at new positions. The O-line finally looks like the o-line most of us expected. 2 of our top 3 WRs are basically in their 1st years. Our starting center was a walk on linebacker last year. We still need a lot of upgrades on this roster...
The sky is not falling. Sucks. But many of us expected these kinds of games after watching practice this spring and summer (I predicted we'd start 4-3 on the way to a 7-5 season cause the O-line looked dreadful every practice I watched - so what am I complaining about, right?). Thought I was way wrong for a month and a half. Was pleased as punch to be wrong, too. Growing pains reared their ugly head. I' d almost forgot that was an option.

I am with you on expecting to win this game, and my anger during and right after the game was enough to anger the neighbors. But you have to take a step back. Did the future of this program depend on winning this game? No. So why continue to have the attitude like this is somehow the death knell for the season? There are 4 games to be played, and barring the total collapse of this team that some are predicting, UC is headed for a bowl game, and the 15 extra practices that come with it, something that can't be overlooked in terms of importance right now. 6-2 heading into the bye week is damn good for anyone.
