That was expected. Now let the real season begin. So it looks like
West Virginia got 20 first place and 4 second places

21-38 for Syracuse during last 5 years and media sees the program in the basement once again.

Oh, please. We're predicted to be in the basement because we travel to UConn this year. If they were coming to the Dome, the teams would most likely switch places in the poll - not that finishing 7th is any better than finishing 8th.

Besides, does a Bobcat fan have a reason to talk smack? 03-lmfao

We're in a slump, but having risen to near-elite status twice in our history, we know these things are cyclical. And at least during our 'down' times we have an actual history and great players to reminesce about. What does a Bobcat fan have?

Cheers,
Neil

A Bobcat has no room to talk smack, but I think that SI.com's intern at Syracuse has some valuable input on the matter. Their opinion on Syracuse being good again in the near future is "don't bet on it". I agree. Syracuse, unless they get very lucky, is destined to be the doormat this year. UConn could beat them out for the bottom, but I doubt it this year.

Yeah, but you also think West Virginia is going undefeated this year and will play for the NC. So what do you know?!? 03-nerner

You know the BigEast is doing something right, when it's predicted 4th place team is being considered as preseason Top25 program by most polls.

Not too shabby...

I will, you gotta remember we are the Champs and UofL will beat you like we did last time. In order to be the man you have to BEAT da man and right now in the Big East the man is LOUISVILLE.

Yes, I'm biased but I honestly think the Cards win in Morgantown this year. I see the South Florida game as a trap again, though. As for Rutgers, I think the game will be much closer than their last visit to The Ville, but the result should be the same.

Even though the league's rep has been built on offense the last few years, this year's Louisville and South Florida defenses will have a lot to say about the championship.

No doubt. Unfortunately I can't go to Morgantown this year like I did two years ago. I rode the people mover from downtown and talked good-natured smack with WVU fans on the way. It was an outstanding trip.
