I think ND does after last yr and Penn State, gotta watch them this yr! I wish that they would play some big 12 teams and then the truth be told!

I favor a playoff... but in the current BCS system the Big East does not deserve an outright berth, IMHO.
The league is incredibly lacking in quality depth (Rutgers being a top program?! Come on!).
West Virginia beat a UGA team that frankly overachieved in winning the SEC.
Bonus Points:
You couldn't have PAID ME to be at the WV - UGA game. The only worse matchup I can imagine is VT - UGA.

Let WVU play a season in the Big 12 and they wouldn't win more than 4 games...if that.

Obviously you're bias because you're an ACC guy, but how does the Big East, in the current system, not deserve an outright berth? You have to average a Top 12 ranking, the Big East the last 2 years have averaged a 10.5 ranking. BCS conferences have to have, at least, 25% of their conference ranked in the BCS Top 25 per year, the Big East is meeting that. Market size goes without saying. Conference sagarin ratings, you have to average being in the Top 6 and the Big East is easily meeting all of that. As for West Virginia not winning 4 games in the Big 12, the Big 12 was terrible last year. What a joke. The Big East is a BCS conference, sucks for you guys!

That comment was so stupid it is beyong words. That was one of the highest attended games, highly viewed games and the most exciting BCS game (except the title game) all year. It is a game people are still talking about.

Good point. Both before and after the BE raid, the statistics bear out that the ACC has consistently been the BCS league that has underwhelmed and been the closest to not meeting minimum requirements despite perceptions.

The Big East Conference will stay in the BCS because of the vast influence of the Eastern Press and the number of TV sets up in the Northeastern part of the country. I also think that the addition of Louisville and Cincinnati will be good for that conference in the long run especially if Louisville can hold on to Bobby Petrino.
Do I think that Big East deserves a BCS bid??? Yes, as I think that there is some really good potential for that conference. West Virginia proved that in the 2005 Sugar Bowl against a very good Georgia squad. Anybody who said that bowl game wasn't exciting is out of their minds. Next the to the Rose Bowl, it was probably the most excithing bowl game there was. With promising young coaches like Rich Rodriguez, Bobby Petrino, and Greg Schiano, that league can only get better.

I guess the ACC doesn't deserve a bid either. Come on, stop sending #22 ranked teams to the BCS! And trying winning a game occasionally!

Thank you! Look, nobody is saying the Big East is among the upper elite conferences in America, but it is CLEARLY the 6th best conference in America, and closer to conferences like the Pac-10 and Big 12 then the non-BCS conferences. And everybody in that conference has experienced success and a bowl bid in the last 2 years. That speaks VOLUMES.

I figured I would ressurect this thread.
What are your feelings now? The BE was either the top rated conference or the second best rated conference in every rating system that counts. The BE finished with a 37-8 record Out of Conference, and including a 5-0 Bowl record, and 2-0 in bcs bowls the last 2 years.
I think this goes to show that the author of this thread is truly clueless.

Cowboy Junky is a Wyoming fan and MWC fan. The MWC is a crap conference, so I'm assuming he is in hiding over on the MWC board.

The Big East has proven to be a quality conference, they didn't face the toughest bowl competition last year but were the only conference that went undefeated in the post season. If Miami, VaTech & BC had stayed with the BE adding Lville, Cincy and USF; the BE would be one of the dominant conferences in college football.
