Someone with a PhD learned a great deal about the area of their major/thesis focus. Someone who has a PhD in Psychology knows a lot about the psychological behavior. Someone with a PhD in Women's Studies is learned in women's issues and feminism.

It doesn't mean they know how to best run a country nor what is best for the people of that country. Some of the PhDs I know are downright idiots at balancing their checkbooks, paying their bills and living within their means.

BTW in my immediate family there are 2 MDs, 1 JD, 2 MBAs, 1 MSM.

Honestly, each and every person has some intelligence and wisdom to throw in and add to the mix. That formal schooling somehow equates to someone being intelligent is becoming outdated, especially with the wealth of info readily available to everyone in various ways (internet, books, chat rooms, general conversations, etc...).

That said, the Catch-22 of needing college to succeed though not needing it to succeed is unfortunately how the world works.
