As I ironic or weird as this may sound I think he's almost too smart for his own good....he's not gay.....he was originally an engineering major then decided half way through college he really wanted to teach. Hey... he's better than the guy who teaches Kindergarten. The male teacher I had in Elementary school was married to my fourth grade teacher and the other male teacher in the school was also married to a teacher in the building.

One of my male co-workers at my school yesterday stopped me and was talking to me told me I looked nice today...that part i get it's a good thing but then he saw I had some terp football programs w/me for my kids to read and he was like YOu know I was at the season opener against William and Mary, I almost called you I ahd six tickets and if I didn't fill up a spot i was gonna call you and see if you were up for it....and I was like oh I was there we have season tickets....

Anyway two of my guy friends said that was the hint for me to give him my phone number b/c he doesn't have it I said how do I know he wasn't just saying all of that....anyway so guys what the heck....is that really a hint for me to give him my number?

If we wants you then he should just ask for your number.

Stop being a wussy boy.

He did....he just hasn't called me but meh w/e....we'll see what happens. I think there's a new Terp football season ticket holder in the making where that goes so that's always a plus.

Ok one last quoted reply other than that thanks to everyone for the feedback this round.....

Ok...I don't know why I get worried about working so closely with him and dating....I know plenty of teachers who date each other and work closely together. There's two married couples in my school who got married after they started teaching there. Then I can name at least a half dozen other people I know who taught together and ended up marrying....I don't know why it happens a lot in teaching....

If he went from engineer to elementary ed, hes an idiot. Unless he was about to flunk out as an engineer...

How pathetic of YOU, Terpy. If the guy found meaningful work that he's happy with...more power to him! We should all be so lucky.

I think the elementary schools could use more male influence. As it is, so many women teachers want to keep boys from being boys. "Sit still, be quiet, behave" is not how boys act. They shorten recess...And now they want to ban tag, dodgeball and other activities.

Frankly Terpy, maybe you could have used more male influce in your formative years. Your androgenity always creeps me out.

Perhaps, but running around wild isnt proper behavior for the classroom. Young boys need to be taught how to properly behave in public just as much as young girls do. Boys have plenty of time to run around and have fun, the classroom is for learning. If a male teacher is more likely to put up with unnecessary horseplay than its a good thing there arent more of them teaching elementary school.

It's not that male teachers allow running studetns to be running around wild but yet so many boys need that male influence in their lives. With the divorce rate what it is and such there's always the one boy who just needs that male influence. Terpy sometimes it amazes me how ignorant you are to today's world and the way school is and life is.

This man is happy being a teacher and he likes to be that positive male influence in children's lives. There is not one thing wrong with that. You know what's funny? He doesn't even take recess duty? he has lunch duty every day his choice...most male teachers would much rather be outside playign games with the students or organizing kickball games and in all honestly he does, but I didn't want to start the year out in the cafeteria a lone and the other 4th grade teacher said she'd prefer to have recess and he was like I've got it I'll take it all year if you want...his choice...not ours....Yet he always talks about how we should have a kick ball tournament on Fridays against classes and stuff....

WTF

First you sit here and criticize a man for being a teacher in elementary school saying they must be gay.......then bc they've changed from wanting to be an engineer to a teacher they must be idiots. Then someone explains male teachers to you and you say school isn't for being wild when no one said that but lots of times female especailly older female teachers are too strict especially for wrestless boys....

If you knew anything about education you would know that no one goes in to teaching for the money and most people dont' go in because they "flunked" out of another major. Teaching is about wanting to make a difference and wanting to work with students. If you have that specialy heart and you're that kind of person then you can teach, but you really have to be a special person to teach. And it doesn't make you gay just because you'rea guy who teaches elementary school.

Ok so not really ingorant to life and today's world but to education and the career of teaching and what that means.

I get what he's saying, though..there's women teachers who expect boys to be perfectly still not to test the waters not make even a peep. But that's unrealistic. It's not that realistic. Male teachers are more understanding to the demeanor of boys. They will make sure they learn but they also give them the space to be boys in a quiet and functional way.

That's just one teacher, though. You can't stereotype male teachers based on one guy. I've known male teachers who are great with the students but don't let them get away with a thing....i.e. the fourth grade teacher at my school...2nd year teacher, and he has is rules you better follow them otherwise there are consequences but at the same time eh does a lot of neat things in his class.
