I will presume that you are hoping folks will reply, "Hell no! This is the natural way to be, and I was born this way."

Well, the answer is, it is a choice. Of course some choices are easier than others. I was explicit in saying that environment and physiology (including heredity) have an influence. Often it's to the point that we don't even recognize a choice, becaues the answer is so "obvious".

Similarly (and I'm not the first to make this analogy) there is a link between physiology, environment and alcoholism. Personally, I don't drink much or often, but I will not mock an individual who struggles with this. However, I'm not going to promote or encourage drunkeness, even if it's done in the privacy of an individual's home. I'm also going to believe that the choice to pursue such a lifestyle will disqualify an individual from certain opportunities (perhaps being a firefighter or surgeon).

The courts (or an arbitrator) may disagree (see my hometown as an example) but they've been wrong before.

Sexual orientation.

Alcoholism.
