A police spokesman just completed a press conference here and there is NO criminal evidence and there is no longer a police investigation. End of comment and no questions were taken.

Bill Parcells said in his press conference yesterday afternoon, before all this happened last night, that the pain medication that Owens was taking was making him ill. On tv the other night they showed his hand and it was grossly swollen from the surgery for the broken bone in his hand.

Someone above stated that two paramedics saw him take two pills, and that is not true. That was a woman who was there with him, and the one who called 911.

Still whatever happend, it is very odd.

I've had friends that have seen him out and everytime they do, he is alone or with a bodyguard only. This is obviously something that is waaaay beyond football.

This might be good for him to finally get the point where he has to get the help that he needs and can start to deal with the issues that he has always had. I've heard he had a tough life growing up, and it sounds like he never dealt with it and has it has given him the negative personality that he has today.

I hope he comes out of this a better person.

A lot of times people who put on a lot of bravado and shows of strength are hiding inner pain and insecurity. The show can also keep other people at a distance for various reasons. I haven't been a fan of his personal style, but this situation seems to give another perspective on all that.

I hope and pray he can recover physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc, although the latter two can take a lot longer.

I also hope people don't badger him about this, because that won't help.

Oh, you know every defensive back in the league will be talkin trash to him and involve this in it somehow. TO is the type of player that can shut them up really quick. I'm not a big fan of his ever since he left my Niners. I just cant feel sorry for someone who is making that kind of money and brings most of his problems on himself.

Fox Sports is late...check CNNSI, ESPN.com, etc.

check Fox sports now. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6006094

Do they often induce vomiting for "alergic reactions"?

No. For an allergic reaction, they'd likely treat it with the proper medication (antihistimines, etc.).

You are correct twice. For an OD on pain pills you make them vomit and then give them Narcan, a drug that almost instantly reverses the narcotic's effect.

I am curious as to what the pain medication was. Some of them can actually induce depression /psychosis.

First, I doubt they were trying to induce vomiting. Nobody induces vomiting anymore, they just give activated charcoal to bind toxins. There's too much of a risk of aspiration pneumonia when people who OD vomit.
The narcan would handle any opiod overdose. The bigger worry would be that most pain meds people take (percocet, vicodin, etc.) contain tylenol, which can cause fatal liver failure (especially if combined with alcohol) if taken in a high enough dose. Since it sounds like they're releasing him today, he must not be at risk for this either, which makes me question if he really took 35 pills, since they'd probably want to watch him for a little while and check his tylenol levels to see a trend downwards.

The new story on ESPN is that he had an allergic reaction to some anti-nausea medication, who knows if that's true either? Hard to discount those early reports, but my guess is we'll never know what really happened.

Lets get to the important things. Should I seek a trade, or is he going to be good to go for maybe next week.

Terrell Owens did not try to kill himself. Give me a break people. If this guy looks the wrong way at something everyone takes it out of hand. Deion Sanders and Michael Irvin have both talked to him and he laughed about it and said it was crazy. Get a grip people!

Who knows. T.O. did have a surgically repaired broken finger and had a prescription for the pain pills. If he was just trying to get good and lit, he may have accidentally overdosed, gotten sick and scared, and called an ambulance. If he had something strong & time released like Oxycontin, and did something like crush them and take them. In that case, two pills could very well result in an overdose as all of the drug would've been released at one time rather than over an extended period as intended.

I doubt he tried to actually commit suicide, but I don't doubt that he was trying to get lit off his pain pills and may have accidentally overdosed.

I thought they reported Owens had a spiral fracture of the 4th metacarpal and not a broken finger. If that's the case, a needle full of lidocaine injected along both sides of the break (right before kickoff) and a little protective padding would make him a new man....even for a wide receiver. It's been done before. ;-) The downside is it probably wouldn't completely heal until after the season.

I think he was messing with his publicist & she freaked. He took a couple pain pills & was feeling good. He then told her he'd taken them all. She had no way of knowing. He then took two dietary supplement pills in front of her & said they were the last of 35 pain pills he'd taken that day. She freaked & called an ambulance. The ambulance arrived, took her version of the story, asked T.O. a few questions, he played along, and they take him to the hospital.

I don't think he tried to commit suicide.

Nah.

There are tons of professional athletes that are both skilled and do not act like raving buffoons (heard on radio there was no attempt to hurt himself).

He chose to act like a petulant baby and has gotten the attention he deserves.

This act grew old a while ago.

So, I should rule him out for week 4, but he should be good to go by week 5? I'm sure he wouldn't miss that game for anything...unless he was dead.

For the record, I had a spiral fracture of my 4th metacarpal that I suffered playing flag football after my hand got caught in a loose shirt pulling a flag. I finished the game and then played 3 more that season (we were in the playoffs). I didn't even realize I had it until about 4 weeks later when I was at a Tigers game and they shot a Tshirt right at me and I went to catch it one handed and my hand hurt like hell when I tried to catch it. Went to Campbell's a few days later and got the diagnosis.

I wouldn't have missed an NFL game with that injury, for sure. He can just tape his 3rd and 4th fingers together
