Very true, but Kennesaw still hasnt proven anything. We had a lot of chances to be better last year, but only ended up winning one more game. Hopefully our young players will continue to grow as players and we can start winning close games.

we will start proving things this upcoming season. we are doing a lot better then other teams who have recently moved up to d1 and got hit hard. were not a gimme game to anyone in the conference and thats with our recruiting disadvantage.

Yeah, I agree. It is key to look at this transition realistically. We had the same disadvantages as North Florida...maybe even more considering they returned something like 4 out of 5 starters for the first year, and yet we have been able to be highly competitive our first two years, while they have struggled. We just need to keep growing, and keep our fan base's aspirations somewhat grounded until we start turning the corner.

Let's put a man on the moon.

Eh, I'm tired of being .500 in conference play. The newbie schools will help us on the win column and if we could take both of those ETSU games, that'd be damn awesome. It's sad but my whole basis of a successful season is sweeping ETSU this year.

Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate are both going to be solid programs from the get - go. Neither of those school can be penciled in as a win by anyone in our conference. FGCU is going to really turn some heads. I saw them play 2 years ago, and they were loaded.

To be honest, this league is getting pretty darn good. The following schools should all be considered serious contenders over the next couple of years:

1st Tier:
Mercer
Kennesaw
ETSU
Belmont
Lipsomb
Jacksonville
Campbell

2nd Tier:
Stetson
Florida Gulf Coast
Gardner Webb

3rd Tier:
USC-Upstate
North Florida

After next year you can take GW out of the league, and put FGCU in the upper tier..and you hav 7-8 teams that could legitimately win the title each year....that is the makings of a great low major conference.
I think a

Inlge is doing a GREAT job recruiting... I talked with a very very close person to Tony the other day and I am really excited. He told me that KSU has not announced the number one recruit in the history of KSU basketball that they have stolen from a Big East School (Starts with an L 03-razz). The kid is a 6'10" very athletic senior out of Savannah, Georgia. I was told he is the best KSU has ever signed. I guess we are just waiting to see if he makes the grades... but i am very excited about all of these recruits!

So we have three recruits signed so far?

1. Tanner Jacobs (PF from Kentucky) - Freshman
2. Jay Mitchell (FC from Texas Tech Transfer) - RS next year Junior in 08
3. Nick Mattone (PG / SG from Manatee JC) Junior next year

Those look like the needs that we needed to fill. We definitely needed someone at PG to help Zach out after Golden has left, and we need to continue to build up our size to truly compete on a national level.

Hopefully this big man that the previous poster is talking about will work out. 6'10" sure sounds nice...a lot of times these guys are projects though. We have two 7'0" guys right now that are going to be excellent, but big guys always take longer to develop than guards.

Ya he may be a project with his weight... but I talked with Alex (one of the 7 footers) and he said this guy was lights out on his turn around jumper down low.... Alex said he could do it with his eyes closed.... so we will see!

So are you a student KR? Just curious, you seem to have some good inside information?

As a sidenote, I really liked what I saw in Alex this year. I think that if he works on his game, he is going to be a very good player. He is a big boy, and seems to have good hands. Will be fun to watch him develop.

In order to compete with mid majors and beyond we are going to need a staple of quality big men. Hopefully this Ladaris Green will be a key step in that formula.

Ladaris Green will be freshman of the year handsdown. when kev told us he was coming here i thought it was 2 good to be true. he'll bulk up i'm not 2 worried bout that. he's kinda like Kevin Garnett and Teyshawn Prince..not playing wise, but body wise. He's already very strong but still skinny. just a wiry build. he's going to be a shot blocking beast. he very well could be our best player ever when its all said and done. better then Terrence Hill and better then Ronell Wooten.

oh and i believe both Mattone and Mitchell will have 3 years of eligibility left. community colleges or juco doesnt count towards NCAA. which is good for us.

No...Mattone and Mitchell will have 2 years left each (after Mitchell sits out a year) Juco and CC most definitely count towards your NCAA eligibility. I also wouldnt heap that kind of praise too early on a POSSIBLY incoming freshman. Apparently he is still trying to make his grades, and he hasnt even stepped foot on the court. Terrence Hill was an All American, two time Conference Player of the year, and the NCAA Finals MVP...that is a lot to live up to for someone who hasnt played any college basketball yet.

It is fun to excited about recruits, but lets not get carried away :)

i just checked and juco ball does not count towards ncaa. so that is awesome for us.

and Green is the real deal. i saw a game of his on tape. he's very very very good. the only thing that can beat him is himself. i think he'll make the grades. he's a shot blocker who loves to help out his defense and make a blindside block. his timing when he jumps is as good as it gets and the man has a great jump shot. he'll take advantage of the short 3 point line b4 it gets moved back in 08-09. by far and away the best recruit we've ever had.

i wish i could upload the game..but i cant convert vhs to dvd. o well.

Owlzfan...you are not correct in your info. Juco does count...trust me. I am not 99% sure, I am 100% sure. Whatever sources you are referring to are either wrong or you are misreading them. Juco ball counts.

I am hopeful that Green makes his grades as well.

maybe i'm wrong..but i remember reading that somewhere..and i remember a student at gcsu who came from a previous d2 school and he had also played a year of juco and he still played 3 years at gcsu. but the ncaa could of made an exception with him or some rule thing like that Kruger kid at unlv where he didnt have to sit out a year after he transferred.

btw..does anyone know if John Alison redshirted last year. he said to me once he was redshirting during the season..but if he were redshirting he wouldnt be on the bench with the team dressed in uniform.

He redshirted, so he will be an incoming freshman next year technically.

No matter what recruits you bring in, Wooten will definately be missed. He contributes rebounding, scoring, and defensively. Also, if I was a KSU fan I would look forward to getting the chance to just watch him play.

I like Ingle's recruiting approach. It seems like he's going after guys that maybe wouldn't start on a "major" D1 team, but could certainly play on one.

Your recruits are intriguing. Green sounds like he has an out-of-sight upside. I never worry about these skinny kids. I worry more if they're big but not athletic. It's hard for an 18-year old who has a race horse metabolism to put on the pounds--good problem to have!! Once your training staff puts him on a weight training program, he'll put 15-20lbs in no time.

I think we have a potential Freshman of the year candidate too. He's a 6'8" PF out of Miami: Isiah Brown. He was a McDonald's All-American nominee.

Can't wait until next season. I love when you guys come into town because I love watching Wooten play.
