We open with Florida
Our first year as 1A football program and this is a scary game. Not that I really think we can win, but more that we may have half our team injured by game end. But on a good note, it should give us great exposure and let the world know we have made the move up, because everybody nationwide will tune in to see the national champs play. Would be nice to keep it close or you never know,,,well nahhh

Go Tops !

Western will definitely get national exposure with this game. Since they are the defending national champs and it is their first game of the season, it will most likely be picked up as a nationally televised game. That is a brutal way to begin the 1-A journey.

However, it will give you guys an idea of how you stack up against Troy and FAU as they also play at Florida in 2007. All of the Gators OOC games are SBC schools. The Arkansas Swine will also play three SBC schools OOC this year.

Good luck, guys!!!!

This really isn't our first year of I-A. Our first year of I-A is 2009. We are in transition and technically this year will still be classified I-AA.

Understood; I said 'begin your 1-A journey'. Sorry for the confusion.

Western will definitely get national exposure with this game.

I'd just as soon not have every high school player in the country watch us get beat by 60. Even if they are the champs.

Gotta go with H2K on this one. Although if we get on TV, it's great for the program, but I'd much rather not get the human waste kicked out of us on TV.

But who knows, pigs may fly, hell may freeze over, liberals may grow brains, and the Toppers may beat Florida. OK, that's a stretch. GO TOPS 02-13-banana 02-13-banana 02-13-banana

Any idea of how many SBC schools & who will be on your '07 schedule ? I've seen some speculation that you may be playing UNT in Denton.

This is the latest I have seen:

HOME
Eastern Kentucky
Morehead State
Troy
Florida International.

AWAY
Florida
Middle Tennessee
North Texas
Ball State
Indiana State
Chattanooga
Arkansas State ?

Who knows how accurate this is.

Being able to schedule 5 SBC schools in your first transition year is very good. ;-)

My understanding is that we will get a sixth?

And why do you say that? Good for us, or good for you all?

As a Middle Tennessee fan I can only recall one serious, season ending injury in these pay day type of games, and it was the game against Alabama in 2002 where we scared the bejeebers out them before losing 39-34. And the injury was an injury that could've occurred against any team. It wasn't a matter of the other team's size or speed.

As Boots Donnelly has said time and time again, a player not playing hard, not focused is more likely to be injured and more often that happens against non-bc$ schools. And it's football, it's a violent game and players can and do get hurt.
