I'm going to say:
Football-MT vs UNT...MT hasn't won, but any UNT fan that says it isn't a rivalry is lying to himself...
Basketball-MT vs WKU...Long time rivalry going back to the OVC...

I think the Western Kentucky series is turning into a rivalry. Kermit is 3-3 against Western and the wku men and women beat the MT men and women in the tourney finals last year and this year, the MT men and women defeated the wku men and women in the tourney at Diddle in rather convincing fashion, which really has to gnaw at them. I think MT fans have more respect for Western than Western fans do for Middle Tennessee.
The Western students wearing the "F--- MTxx" at Diddle and then daring to wear those offensive shirts in Murphy Center reflect that lack of respect.
BTW, no one can deny the offensive t-shirts, we have a photo and made it available to President Ransdell and AD Selig who have promised to prevent that from happening again.

And you think WKU fans are respectful? They are the most disrespectful fans in the SBC.

It will not be a rivalry after this year but UNT and NMSU in football was going strong.
Also in a lower sport UNT v. Arky State in Tennis. Even when was I Asst Coach there were heated matches and the last 3 years has not changed with a majority of the matches going 4-3.

Have to agree with you on the NMSU vs UNT being a good rivalry.

Yeah...I have to agree, we seem to get fired up for Middle Tennessee every year. I think the whole conference co-champions thing is what did it.
North Texas and New Mexico St. have been playing for a pretty long time now. One of the best games I've ever watched in person was the game in 2002 that decided the conference championship and the bowl birth. The lead must have changed 5 or 6 times. A couple (brave) NMSU students walked right through our student section with a big sheet that read "Weak Green." We ended the game strong with our defense finally wearing them out. We took the goal posts all the way to the bars on Fry Street that night.
Then there was last year's game-winning field goal as time expired on national tv...another good game.

National TV? Was this against NMSU? I didn't catch it and I usually catch all the Sunbelt football that I can get.

I believe that is an unfair generalization. But if that is how you want to think, I can't change it.
