I wish I was that creative but it's a copy and paste of something someone got in an email and posted on another board. I did however, invent the following conversation after Richard Lugar (no limp-wristed liberal himself) criticized the post-war Iraq planning:

_______________________

Senator: Bushie, what is your plan for post-war Iraq?
Bushie: Senator, we have a plan.
Senator: But what is the plan?
Bushie: A really good plan.
Senator: Could you be a little more specific?
Bushie: Really, it's more than a bit unpatriotic to ask these types of questions. Trust us.
Senator: Well, I'll trust you that you have a good plan. How much will it cost?
Bushie: We don't know.
Senator: Do you have any estimates at all?
Bushie: Yes.
Senator: Well, what are those estimates?
Bushie: That's classified.
Senator: Why in the world is it classified?
Bushie: Really, it's more than a bit unpatriotic to ask these types of questions. Trust us.
Senator: OK. So you can't tell us the plan and you can't tell us how much it will cost. Fine. How many American sons and daughters will we have to keep in Iraq?
Bushie: Not many.
Senator: How many is not many?
Bushie: Let me just state that the statements you've heard from the military professionals are "wildly off the mark."
Senator: Really? Well that's good to hear. So how many will we need.
Bushie: Less.
Senator: Could you give us at least some estimate?
Bushie: Really, it's more than a bit unpatriotic to ask these types of questions. Trust us.
Senator: Well, since you can't tell us about the plan and you can't tell us how much it might cost and you can't tell us how many American sons and daughters well will continue to have in Iraq, can you at least tell us how long these American sons and daughters will be there?
Bushie: No.
Senator: Why not? Don't you know?
Bushie: Of course we know.
Senator: Then how come you can't tell us?
Bushie: That's classified.
Senator: You've got to be kidding me. You're telling me that your estimates regarding how long American sons and daughters will be in Iraq is classified? Why in the world would an estimate like that be classified?
Bushie: It could give our enemies information.
Senator: Like what???? It's already been widely reported which units are in Iraq. Every time one of them comes home, there's a big news splash about it. Every time a unit gets shipped, there's a big news splash about it. The structure of our armed forces is public information. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who is there and who is left. So what information could we possibly be giving to our enemies by telling mothers and fathers when their sons and daughters might be home?
Bushie: Really, it's more than a bit unpatriotic to ask these types of questions. Trust us.

Here are 10 things to consider when voicing an opinion on this important issue:

1) Between President Bush and Saddam Hussein ... Hussein is the bad guy.

2) If you have faith in the United Nations to do the right thing keep this in mind, they have Libya heading the committee on human rights and Iraq heading the global disarmament committee. Do your own math here.

3) If you use Google search and type in "French military victories, "your reply will be "did you mean French military defeats?"

4) If your only anti-war slogan is "no war for oil," sue your school district for allowing you to slip through the cracks and robbing you of the education you deserve.

5) Saddam and Bin Laden will not seek United Nations approval before they try to kill us.

6) Despite common belief, Martin Sheen is not the president. He plays one on TV.

7) Even if you are anti-war, you are still an "infidel!" and Bin Ladenn wants you dead, too.

8) If you believe in a "vast right-wing conspiracy" but not in the danger that Hussein poses, quit hanging out with the Dell computer dude.

9) We are trying to liberate them. He is trying to kill us.

10) Whether you are for military action or against it, our young men and women overseas are fighting for us to defend our right to speak out. We all need to support them without reservation.

Well, my opinion of the education at Miami just took a big hit...

I was ready to let this thread go, until this last few nuggets of pure b.s.:

Quote:3) If you use Google search and type in "French military victories, "your reply will be "did you mean French military defeats?"

And if you went to the same site and typed in "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and hit "I'm Feeling Lucky," you'd get an entirely different perspective. So the hell what?

Quote:4) If your only anti-war slogan is "no war for oil," sue your school district for allowing you to slip through the cracks and robbing you of the education you deserve.

And your simplistic "love it or leave it" rhetoric is so much more nuanced. Right.

Quote:5) Saddam and Bin Laden will not seek United Nations approval before they try to kill us.

Saddam and bin Laden had nothing to do with one another. Or maybe you're another one of those brain-dead who believes Iraq had a role in 9/11 despite mountains of evidence to the contrary (and no evidence in support of that theory)?

Quote:6) Despite common belief, Martin Sheen is not the president. He plays one on TV.

A shame, too. Because he'd be a much better leader than the deceitful right-wing clown currently holding that office.

Quote:9) We are trying to liberate them. He is trying to kill us.

"Liberate?" Is that what killing 7,000+ civilians is called by the Right these days?

Quote:10) Whether you are for military action or against it, our young men and women overseas are fighting for us to defend our right to speak out. We all need to support them without reservation.

Bulls--t. This is America. We are obligated as citizens and patriots to oppose reckless abuses of power, military action based on lies, the alienation of our allies, and speak out when necessary. This is one of those times. Folks who are anti-war obviously support the troops and have supported them all along... we don't want them to get killed for some imperialist neo-con fantasy.

This "ignore the deceptions that got us into this, ignore how we have no idea to get out, just gather round and tie a yellow ribbon" crap that the Right tries to pull to change the subject is nothing less than insulting to Americans' intelligence.

And to return to the original thread topic... congrats to EMU. Hope you have a full house for your game with Maryland!

FYI-Papa Lou; Redskin's post was not properly attributed. It was a rant from Dennis Miller which circulated throughout the web just prior to the war.

Coming to the defense of my Miami-educated friend, Papa Lou. I don't believe he resorted to name-calling (e.g. "brain dead"). A man of your education should keep things on a "higher level".

P.S. Actually, based on Flying Corn's revelation, R4E may have just been "funnin" with ya'll anyway.

eCK: Au contraire. R4E's post specifically slammed the education of those who oppose the war. I was just responding in kind.

And if that was indeed a Dennis Miller rant, then it should have been noted. I probably should have realized that was one of Miller's originals... after all, it was shallow and unfunny.

If R4E's post was honestly meant in jest, then my apologies for not picking up the sarcasm...

Why should this rant be any different than any of his others? :D

I only have two responses to this "rat's nest" discussion:

#1. Libertarian Party? Oh, yeah, the guys who know the cost of everything, and the value of nothing.

#2. HURONator Dave has once again confused a "sellout" with the Parade of Porn Stars, featuring Mary's Land, which will be held the same day at the Silverdome! :D

Regarding the lengthy "Q & A" post...

30 questions about every piece of military adventurism/foreign policy over the past decade... but not one mention of Bosnia?

How in the hell are we gonna rationalize kicking your sorry asses out of the MAC if you start selling out games? 04-bow

At this juncture I have even less interest in discussing the 2000 election than I do the 2004 election.
I could give a rat's ****** what Al Gore did and didn't do. If he was instrumental in creating this wonderful porn-downloading contraption, I'll tip my hat to him with my free hand. If he's didn't, then he's just another ******ing democrat who lies about sex....
