Mako, obviously you have not been to any of the Toco Mac's in Atlanta... There used to be one on industrial blvd that have a thousand freaking beer selections... So does the Three Dollar Cafe joints.. They actually closed the Atlanta brewery which was a shame, though I never really liked their beers anyway...

Also, if you have ever been to the Red Brick in Decatur?.. you can actually get Oatmeal Beer... It is very dark, with an extremely thick head on it... and it doesnt have an after bite to it... There is also Gorden Bisrch, Hand n Hand and Neighbors... which has a decent selection of beers...

I have to agree that there really isn't any old world type stuff happening there... but, if you drive down buford hwy... towards 285... you would swear you are in Korea.. China or something like that...

And they force you to drink this stuff called "tea" that in no way resembles any tea grown in the universe. Plus, and I swear this is true, they are making it illegal to drink anything else.
I believe there is talk of lynching anyone who asks for "iced tea, no lemon, no sugar." (My long time morning recovery medicine.)

Flying Corn: Is this the one on Sheffield just south of Wellington? If so, I know that place well. And you're right, Resi's is fantastic, although I highly recommend the Hauttebrau Haus in Lincoln Square.

And, oh, how I miss the dearly departed Augenblick at Damen and Irving...

Goose Island on Clybourn is always good, too!

No, the one I'm talking about is the one on Northwest Hwy., although I've been to all three.
The one on Northwest Highway is about 1/2 mile from my house. They used to have a location at the end of my street that was a complete dive, despite the fine beer. The city bought them out when they built the 16th district police station.
Lo and behold, 4 months later Vaughans ended up with a beautiful new place complete with a handcrafted polished oak bar and polished oak booths.
Needless to say, our very Irish alderman has been a Vaughans regular for many years. 03-wink 03-lol

I also miss the Augenblick. I remember when Conan O Brien went there with Andy Richter (??) after visiting the luscious Lincoln restaurant 03-puke and they brought those huge 32 ounce mugs the Lincoln restaurant serves soda in . 03-lol

Goose Island is a great place to stop mid-afternoon on a Saturday or Sunday after a hectic day of shopping 03-puke
