I am an ECU fan, I am a Clemson fan first. Comeon over to CUTigers.com or palmettostaterivals.com and talk with me about Clemson football. Mind your manners on PSR though...I'm the Clemson moderator.

Quote:Last I checked outside of South Carolina the only thing anybody knows about Clemson football is that a player was punched by Woody Hayes.
Well, we take pride in the fact we were the reason that embarassment was retired. For years you could get "We got Woody fired" tshirts at Mr Knickerbockers. lmfao
Ol' Woody snapped because he team was getting beatdown by an emerging power. He wasn't the only high profile coach to lose to Danny Ford's Clemson teams though...Vince Dooley from Georgia, Tom Osbourne from Nebraska, Joe Paterno of Penn State, Bobby Bowden of FSU, and Don Nehlen of WVU all suffered losses to the Clemson Tigers. Lou Holtz would hve while he was at Notre Dame...but he was going to back out of a Kickoff Classic in the Meadowlands if Clemson was involved....so he got to play Virginia instead. Doubt it had anything to do with UVA coming off a 7 win season and no bowl while Clemson was coming off yet another ACC title, 10 wins and a Citrus Bowl win over Oklahoma.

Of course, the college football world knew Clemson before that. Starting with a Cotton Bowl appearance in 1939, and Orange and Sugar Bowls in the 1950's teams knew who the little school in rural SC was.

When Ga Tech was going to back out of playing Clemson because Clemson wanted the series to be home and home the Clemson fans who made that one last trip to Atlanta took $2 bills stamped with tiger paws and Atlanta found out how well the Clemson following was. Since then banking officials in Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and even Boise know who Clemson is.

Ask Brett Musburger about the Esso Club and the Most Exciting 25 seconds in College Football and he'll tell you all you want to hear about Clemson.

Here's some people who know all about CLemson

Quote:When Clemson players rub that rock and run down the hill, its the most exciting 25 seconds in college football."
Brent Musberger, ABC Sports

Quote:"Death Valley really lives up to its image. I was impressed with this stadium. When you put 80,000 people in there, it really feels like they are on top of you. I would hate to be Georgia Tech or whoever else comes in here."
San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Steve Young

Quote:"I came here knowing it would be loud and that Clemson would hit me hard, but to me, the noise was the biggest factor. I know I didn't concentrate as well because of it."
Herschel Walker after Clemson's 13-3 victory in 1981, his only regular season loss at Georgia.

Quote:"There is no place louder or more picturesque than Death Valley. There, where Clemson folks see magic in a hill and a rock, orange gets more respect than anywhere this side of Gainesville, Florida."
Terence Moore, Atlanta Constitution

Quote:"Last spring (1999), former New York Knicks Head Coach Jeff Van Gundy came to Clemson for a coaching clinic. One of the first things he said was, 'before I leave I've got to rub Howard's Rock.' So, we brought him to the rock about midnight one night. He rubbed the rock, but he wouldn't run down the hill. He was a little afraid of that."
Clemson Head Basketball Coach Larry Shyatt

Dude you're an ECU fan just admit it. It's getting old listening to your excuses.

I'm pretty sure people around the nation couldn't give a crap about that. All they care about is here and now. And 18-8 doesn't cut it.

And 8-18 does?

The 18-8 things sounds like Rutgers 4-0 against UofL going into this past year. The only thing that got them was a 56-5 beatdown. Hell even UK leads the all time series against UofL but that did not stop TSN from dubbing them Louisville Play Toy. In the media it is about the here and now. That is why Fuitak and his cronies made the crack about USM in regards to UofL and TCU.

Oh I absolutely agree. I just think it's funny how some people use
"history" when the here and now a'int so pretty. Just like your recent
NIT experience.

How many times have you pointed to your "past" after losing to Memphis?

Losing to Memphis has been so rare-(jk) ;-) .

Everyone does it, from USM to Memphis to tOSU to Louisville and even a North Texas.

Why is that? UC will be back sooner rather than later. Hell, with this recruiting class I now feel UC can possibly compete for a NCAA tourney birth.

The "here and now" point would only refer to Memphis, and that even only counts for the last game. So, I guess you are right, I don't understand your point.

You right, you don't understand. You took that as smack, when I was simply
pointing out how people use "tradition" when it suits them.

But if you want to bring it at Memphis, we can do this.

Your "tradition" is coaching at K-State now.

Or is retired if you want to look at it that way (Ed Jucker was coach for the two national titles)...

I wasn't trying to talk smack at Memphis, I'm just confused as to where UC would be looking at tradition for its basketball program at the moment. It isn't as if UC basketball has fallen off the map, it has a great young coach who just brought in a pretty good recruiting class for 2006 in only 3 months.

Personally I think UC can look at the long term and the short term and still feel pretty good about the basketball program.

18-8. You can keep crying about it if you want, but it's a fact. And since you had us removed from your schedule, there is no "here and now". We own you, and you have a lot of work to do to change that simple fact. 04-rock

1. We did not remove you for our schedule, why would we since it cost us a home game and we had won the last 3. Stupid logic, blame C-USA and their rotating schedule not Louisville.

2. So does everyone else for that matter if you look at All Time Series. It doesn't bother me one bit since I know the history of Louisville Football and not caring about that sport until very recently. Like I said, Rutgers has a 4-1 series advantage over us and it doesn't mean a damn thing since in the here and now we stomped them. Same for USM, you fail to mention we won the last 3 including 2 of those games being in Hattiesburg.

For Louisville it is now about beating WVU and win the Big East Title and going to play in either the Sugar Bowl, Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl or Orange Bowl. For USM it is about making the New Orleans Bowl for the 3rd time this decade.

Your last victory against us took a fluke hail mary to tie the game and send it into overtime, then our kicker had to miss about 3 FG's inside of 30 yards for you to win. You also knew that we owned you in your own stadium, and you needed us off your schedule to have a chance for the title.

And after Loserville returns to their bottom-dwelling ways, I hope that you return to the rat infested, government housing project that you came from.

Don't you think that you should get past beating crap schools like USF first? 01-wingedeagle You have lofty goals, but you just don't have the program that can take you there. I guarantee that USM will play in a BCS bowl before Loserville does. You will remain in our rear-view. Always have. Always will.

On truly a closing note, please take this bit of very good advise.

"Sure, in the 16th year under head coach Jeff Bower the Golden Eagles would like to become Louisville or TCU or Utah, but first, it has to become Tulsa and win the league title again."
