That said, I'm starting to see signs of this trend reversing though. I hope so.

You do realize the same complaints were lodged about grunge and the "slacker/loser" generation?

That doesn't even make any sense. How was indy/alternative trying to be pop-like? It was trying to be the antithesis of pop. That was just a dumb comment.

Popular music in every generation is playing to the lowest common denominator. You have to find the bands that are doing their own thing. It was true then and it is now.
