So this is a thing that happened:

The players also got to see the new uniforms tonight. Not sure if it's related at all.

Anyways..."all we do is win win win no matter what"

Word is that the new uniforms might be Jordan brand. Third team in the country to have it (after Michigan and North Carolina)

RE: DJ Khaled - Jack Bauer - 08-06-2017 12:01 PM

That would be awesome! I wondered why he said team Jordan during it. Hopefully we get Jordan basketball unis as well!

RE: DJ Khaled - galojah - 08-06-2017 05:03 PM

I had to look up who this guy was. I guess it is a big deal.

RE: DJ Khaled - WKUFan518 - 08-06-2017 09:06 PM

Yea me too, must be too old to be hip....I loved hip hop back in the lat 80's early 90's, guess I have been MIA to say the least...This dude must be real deal however, Coach almost got a 1k likes on Twitter and WKU's Barstool account has something crazy with retweets and likes....So as long as the college students loved, its a big deal apparently...

RE: DJ Khaled - MTPiKapp - 08-06-2017 11:04 PM

No, DJ Kahled is not a big deal.

He's closer to Big Pun than he is to Biggie.

He'll long be remembered for All I Do is Win, but I doubt he ever has a bigger hit

RE: DJ Khaled - topperfan84 - 08-06-2017 11:27 PM

Let us know the next time anyone someone even moderately famous cares about MTSU.

They aren't.

DJ Kahled does not care about WKU. He came off about as genuine as the big name musician doing the spot for the local radio station.

And my comment was not a dig on Western so calm down friend, I would say the same thing about it if he were casually kicking it on his couch using buzzwords to inspire the players of any team in this country, Middle included.

But if my pointing out that DJ Kahled is a flash in the pan really offends you that much, I apologize.

RE: DJ Khaled - topperfan84 - 08-06-2017 11:57 PM

Of course DJ Khaled doesn't "care" about WKU, but he's talking about us and our head coach and that's good enough for recruits and college students. Let me rephrase: let us know the next time anyone moderately famous puts a video on the internet mentioning your school and Rick Stockstill to aid in recruiting. Better?

FFS...

Sure.

No. DJ Kahled is a big deal. I would imagine 4-6 out of every 10 hip-hop/R&B songs over the past 5 years have had his influence on those tracks.

He is not a rapper, but a DJ; he produces music. The comparison to Biggie is misplaced. Khaled is this hip hop generation's version of Funkmaster Flex, DJ Clue, or Swizz Beatz (these 3 dudes are all considered hip-hop giants).

On the song you mentioned, you should have noticed he doesn't rap at all...that track, like any track that he headlines, enlist other rappers to perform over a beat he created.

Who the F is DJ Khaled?

If you are not into hip-hop, even casually, you very likely would not know who he is.

I can for certainty say, likely 80% of this younger generation know who he is...and in the case for WKU, this is a big deal for them...whether it's just a promo spot or he genuinely just repped for them.

Yeah a better source told me they're standard Nike

RE: DJ Khaled - johndavidblue - 08-07-2017 08:58 AM

I have seen him on twitter but I honestly don't know who he is either. That season of my life is over. In my 20s I knew who all of the hip hop, grunge, country and whoever was famous. I took a queue from Snoop Dogg and put my mind on MY money. Not other peoples'.

As a college aged person let me assure you that DJ Khaled is a very big deal. I don't listen to that genre of music and couldn't name one song he was involved in but I know who he is and anyone my age would.

Very cool to get him involved with WKU even if insincere.

He's not even Pharrel, no way is he remembered alongside pioneers, especially the likes of Funkmaster Flex.

Perhaps if he actually made an appearance on your campus wearing your gear, that would have been a "big deal", but his assistant holding his phone while he throws out buzzwords and coach speak?

I realize it's the offseason, but c'mon...

Who is DJ Khaled?

My boy Ethan from h3h3 productions has a documentary on him.
