Al Franken quit comedy to run for Senate. He also had a long history of thoughtful analysis of political issues prior to his run. He knew that he'd need to be seen as a serious candidate to win. He's in that seat for as long as he wants it. Because he has the respect of Minnesotans as a thoughtful and serious Senator. Others might not like Franken or his ideas, but I don't think anyone questions his fitness to serve in the Senate.

Most people didn't realize Al Franken ever really started comedically. So, was "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot" part of his thoughtfulness or comedy? Don't forget that he was an awful radio host for a failed network too.

He's in a safe seat in MN because he's liberal, not due to his dynamic intellect. But, that is what MN wants, unfortunately.

I think Mr. Rock wins the GOP Primary though. This isn't going to help the GOP win Stabenow's seat in Michigan (People are going to be tired of low performing insult machines by 2018) and I think it might cause more moderates and country club Republicans to abandon the GOP brand. He's going to suck up oxygen from neighboring states too. By 2018, there will also be enough time for white Union members to realize that Trump isn't going to help them.

He likely finished fourth place in a three person race. This is going nowhere, and you know it.
