pfftt. BS. They'd just use the flexibility to make sure that Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, et al are never playing a big game at the same time.

*Rabbit trail warning* - we seem to blame weeknight games for many of our woes. Didn't VA Tech build a brand in the late 90s/early 2000s by playing a good amount of Thursday night "exclusives" and shoving their name out in front of people? The non-student population of Blacksburg is mostly wildlife, certainly not a metro anywhere near the size of Toledo, and they still filled the place up. Sorry, stray thought there...
