As much sense as it might make (and it makes a lot of sense), there's about a 5% chance of that happening. D1 isn't really on any of their radars, plus the Dakota schools don't want them because it steps on their recruiting footprint and essentially reunites the NCC in D1, which is not something a lot of people are clamoring for and some are actively opposed to. Football in particular would be a big sticking point for NDSU and UND which both recruit Minnesota heavily for that sport.

Brookings is farther from Pocatello than it is from any school in the Summit League by pure mileage. It's over 1000 miles between the two overland, probably slightly less as the crow flies.

Fargo is closer to Tulsa (ORU) and Indianapolis (IUPUI) than it is to Missoula (U of Montana) overland. This myopic crusade to get the Montana and Idaho schools out of the Big Sky has as much merit as the dreams of reviving the WAC football championship. Those Big Sky schools will be happy to see the back of UND after 2018 because it's their longest road trip of the year off their travel budgets.
