That's not what Aresco said. He didn't say "put UCF in the ACC or make the AAC an equal P6 partner and UCF could compete for ACC title", what he said was that right now, as members of the G5 AAC, those AAC schools could compete for the ACC title like they do for the AAC title. His contention is that right now, the football product of the G5 AAC is equivalent to that of the P5, that top AAC teams would be top teams in P5 leagues.

And that's comical. 07-coffee3

By that definition most of the ACC doesn't qualiify either. Truth is, Houston convincingly beat the ACC runner up in 2015. UCF beat the Big12 champion in 2013. Both teams did it with kids recruited for a G5 league. I'd say its not at all unreasonable to think they could challenge for the ACC if they became members and were recruiting with the P5 seal of approval. They'd certain do as well or better than many current members.

your wasting your time. quo is a master of technicalities.

It's not a "technicality" to point out that a poster is defending Aresco while not accurately indicating what Aresco actually said.

"Attackcoog" makes the same mistake again: By way of defending Aresco, he agrees that if Houston and some other American schools joined the ACC and were thus getting all that P5 money and had the P5 recruiting stamp of approval, that they could contend for the ACC title.

Problem is, that's NOT what Aresco said in the podcast. What he said was that the top AAC teams could, *right now*, contend for ACC (and other P5) titles. Not once they joined the P5 and started getting all that P5 money and recruiting shine, but right now.

His contention obviously being that the quality of football being played in the AAC right now, as a G5, is on a par with that being played in the P5 leagues. And that's part of his claim that the AAC is, in terms of on field quality, actually a Power league.

That's the statement that has to be defended, and you can't do it by talking about how Temple, USF, UCF, Houston, etc. would do after they joined a P5 league and started getting all the P5 benefits.

fair enough.... however, I do believe that Houston team the rolled FSU in the Peach bowl would have competed for the ACC title that year. same could have been said for the UCF team that rolled the Big 12 champ in the Fiesta bowl. not saying they would have definitely won, but they certainly would have been competing for it. even this years USF team.... if all the hype is proven true on the field, they certainly could be competing for the ACC title if they were in the conference.

this is all with the current resources of our tweener league. so in a way, aresco had a point. he was not saying that they would 100% win it..... but our top half would certainly be competitive to make some noise.
