It would be ugly. The sight lines would be horrible. The foundation has $200 mill plus. So if the BOR decided it doesn't like this deal, we have the funds to purchase the land and make Turner playable.

Also... lets say we use our foundation money on dorms, offices and green space, which we have done with the numerous projects Panama has mentioned. A lot of those things Carter/Oakwood would actually be developing. Carter/Oakwood cut us a check specifically for the renovation of Turner, baseball, and other athletic facilities. Not a loan... just money washed one way and comes out another.

Soooo money laundering?

But for real, a big issue in the past has been the BoR's refusal to allow money from the fundraising arm mainly in support of academics to fund athletics expenses with the expectation that athletics would do its own fundraising, especially since West Georgia played the "stick some classrooms on our arena/stadium and get the BoR to pay for it for academics support." Even washing the money back and forth you still run into this issue.
LOL. Just wow. This project will have academic components. And as we have said, its not like the GSUF has not done this all so many times before. Do you think maybe at this stage of the game(having built out a billion dollars in projects and acquired 7 billion dolars worth of downtown real estate) that they know what they are doing?

How GSU funds the build out of Classroom, dorms, and other academic components is not want GS sports fans are concerned with. What GS fans are concerned about is how the BoR handles the funding of the retrofit for Turner Field and the funding of the baseball complex to be built on the site. GS fans know what the BoR has required in the past for athletics projects which the Turner Field rebuild will be, and are waiting to see if the standards required by the BoR will stay the same or has a new standard been set by the board. GS knows that GSU will get it done and are just waiting to see if the process has changed or has stayed the same as in the past. Nothing more nothing less.
