Some of y'all love to make fun of GSU for having to play in the dome then want to say this isn't a good move. Wut?
Also, who cares if it's a little lopsided? You're upgrading to a stadium basically in the middle of downtown Atlanta that has the infrastructure to support a major sports team with a reasonable capacity. It's a great deal. Not to mention GSU is getting much needed FREE publicly just from buying it. It's a stadium you can possibly fill on game days. If the school can handle the debt, I say it's a golden ticket. And for anyone who says otherwise, try to find another suitable location in downtown Atlanta. I dare you.

As said earlier, State struggled for a couple of years to come up with $1M to build their new weight room. It is a legitimate question as to whether they can afford the maintenance and upkeep of Turner, much less afford the $100M+ it needs in structural renovations. Those questions have been alluded to several times, but panama and the gang refuse to acknowledge it.

As for a suitable location in downtown Atlanta? Something else that has been stated several times before, all you have to do is look a couple of blocks west of the GA Dome. There is a more appropriate Olympic venue sitting there rotting. State could have bought 15K seat Herndon Stadium from Morris Brown College out of Chapter 11 for pennies on the dollar.

It's in a really sad state now, but they could put a fraction of the money into it as opposed to Turner, have one of the nicest stadiums in the conference, and get way much more bang for the buck.

Champagne taste on a beer budget.

Wow I didn't know that was an option.

I gotta say I see potential there I don't see with the other site.

Problems with that site:

1. It doesn't even hold 15k
2. It is further from campus than the other two options
3. The wall at the end zone is too close for NCAA specs.
4. It hasn't been kept up since the Olympics in 1996. Seriously, they don't even have plumbing there any more.

So why spend the money on that when it solves none of the problems?
