Merging with State would lower the reputation until they brought them up to par. I don't think merging with Emory would lower anything. And they could in short order do serious biomedical, biochemistry, and biomechanical research. Not many people know it, but lil ole Wake Forest does *serious* bio research right now. They are printing and growing functional organs.
