One of the major hang-ups is the refusal of the basketball side to have an unbalanced membership. More football than basketball schools is unacceptable to them or you already would have seen a 9th all sports member and Depaul or MU not added during expansion. The Big East didn't 'need' more basketball members after the ACC raid unless of course you believe the basketball side insisted on adding to protect themselves in a future conference split.

The dead horse is continually brought up by TS2 05-deadhorse Villanova can't play at the Linc unless they play Temple. Temple has the lease to play FB there until around 2015 or 2018. I think they had 15 years left
in 2003 but I am not sure. If Nova moves up and that is a big IF :drunk2: they will have to play somewhere else - more than likey at Franklin Field if Penn lets them play there IF they move up.
PANTEEN YOU CANNOT READ.CRAPPY STARTED THIS CRAP.BY THE WAY CHECK ON VILLANOVA PLAYING TEMPLE AT THE LINC FOR 4 YEARS.

Made no reference to who started the thread. The deadhorse theme that you miss lead everyone with is the Linc lease. Temple has the lease to play there not Nova. If these teams play each other there for 4 years it is because Temple has the lease to play there not Nova. Nova cannot play BE or any other teams there as long as Temple has the lease there for their home games. 05-deadhorse They will have to play elsewhere for their homes if they don't play at their own stadium. 03-hissyfit 04-jawdrop 03-weeping 07-coffee3

I'll tell you what does matter. This sorry comglammeration that prevents every team from playing a round robin home and home basketball schedule. And, it's now depriving us of a home and home vs. Louisville.

I love being in the BE, but it's ruining UC's rivalries
It certainly not as good as a 12 member league with a adding psu,nd,bc and md,but is sure better than anything like the the cusa leftovers.

Cusa leftover dead horse theory again 05-deadhorse :snore: :snore:

Lolly Popp Wrote:My vision of the future of the Big East is that it will become a conference whose fans someday will not have to be on the internet posting about things like bowl problems, expansion issues, and split desires.
In order for that to happen, the league will not be a 16 team monstrosity which can only send a maximum of half its teams to the big dance. So you and I are actually on the same page there.

Is anyone really happy with the eight bids from last year, when it should have been nine?

A split league of the FB schools could easily send 6-7 teams without the additional eight mouths to feed.

1) Football school's need to form strong union & break off

2) offer ND chance to join with navy alliance, ie ND + Navy play 4 rotated school's h/a every year. If nd says no( know doubt they will try to split the football school's by offering some...pitt + rutgers...games while not offering others)

3) If ND ko's #2, split and add C.Flordia

4) I like the idea of adding 3 non-football teams for rivals and markets, say UMASS,Temple, and URI. Thus, you got

Umass
Uri
Uconn
Syra
Rut
Temple

Pitt
W.Virg
Cincy
Lville
S.F
C.F

Anybody doubt this league would make more $'s than the current format for the football school's?

I havent read the whole thread so Ill just throw these things out there for the umpteenth time

ND will never join the Big East
Nova will never go 1-A (money) and right now theyre a crappy 1-AA as it is and honestly, Temple is a more viable option than Nova football (not suggesting Temple, just saying how pathetic Nova FB is)

The Big East conference is fine with 8 members but for scheduling purposes we should consider expanding to 9 in 2010. Either ECU, or Memphis would be fine IMO
