The MAC hasn't been content to stay at 12 for nearly two decades. They first got to 12 members in 1997, and in 1998 they invited Buffalo to get to 13. In 2002 they invited UCF to get to 14. When Marshall and UCF left after 2005, the MAC went back to 12. They immediately worked out a deal with Temple to get back to 13 by 2007, and then started working to bring UMass up from the FCS.

Since first getting to 12 teams in 1997, the MAC has only spent 3 out of the last 17 years at 12 members, and has always been trying to get to 14.

I understand all of that, but none of that worked out for the MAC. To me its a simple question: what teams could be added, today, that wouldn't dilute a very good MAC brand? Why continue to try and ruin a very good thing, is all I'm saying.
