Insular, by the way, is not a derogatory word. I first said it "appears you wish to remain insular". Your follow-up comments have verified it. I'm not being derogatory. I'm making an observation rather than a judgment.

Now that I've thought about it, your local region could make for an interesting case study on culture clash in shared geographic space. Where exactly do you live? I know some cultural geographers who may wish to conduct such research. Don't worry; it's not me! I'm a cartographer and physical geographer.
