Can the newbie fans make fun of NIT St too? Just asking...it seems easy and really fun.

SO it's like every other coaching search at NCSU?
Pretty much.

RE: NCSU coaching search
From POD cast with PackPride editor. My comments in parenthesis.
Archie Miller. High on list but may not be on the top choice. (Because of Ohio State rumors?)
Gregg Marshall. Off the list. Allegedly wants $5 million. Viewed to be a lot of money for no P5 experience, 1 FF, 0 NC.
Scott Drew. Turned around Baylor program in shambles. No conference titles. (If you can't compete with Kansas what will you do in a league with 5 or 6 blue bloods?)
Chris Holtmann. Name showed up early. Has Butler near top of Big East. (Maintained Butler success in a much tougher conference)
Will Wade. Lots of momentum. Name heard as much as Miller. Fairly high on list. (Rumored to be the recruiter behind Shaka Smart)
Kevin Keatts. Seen as the "go to" candidate if others don't work out. (Better than a "go to" label would indicate. I wish he had more HC experience.)

Sure, you guys should be there in the NIT with an 18-14 record and a dismal 2-11 record on the road/neutral sites.

0-3 in the ACC Tourney...very NIT State'ish
I expect we could still sneak in.

Can Clemson fans make fun of them too? We have a better conference winning percentage over the past 25 years and are 25-19 vs NC State over the same time period. Sure we suck at basketball but at least we can recognize it.

You guys need to stop. It isn't fair and it certainly isn't State's fault. It's Swofford's, the ref's, UNC's, the new editions to the conference, the leader of the group that is responsible for holding NC State back from its greatness. But it is most certainly not State's.

Any update on the leader board? NCSt should be a pretty easy hire...easily a Top 20 job.

Yep! Even NC State has won two national championships. One was over Marquette after they dismissed UCLA in the semi final.....That was in Greensboro in 1974.

No doubt but in order to achieve that goal, the pack needs to stop blaming everyone else and take care of business.

Lists like this are inevitable whenever there is a P5 job open. They usually tend to include the names of the next great coaches who will emerge from the mid-major ranks. The pundits seem to exchange notes, as they all seem to have the same names.
A couple of years ago, Shaka Smart's name was near the top of every such list. Can't miss, was the label. Well, maybe he'll eventually do OK at Texas, but the jury's out on whether the Longhorns will be willing to give him enough time to dig out of the hole they find themselves in under his watch.
NC State is hoping they can catch lightning in a bottle and find the real thing in a pan of fool's gold. That's easier said than done. And in today's world, they could very well find the next Mike Krzyzewski and fire him before he makes the big breakthrough. Coach K would probably have been fired by most P5 programs today if he took as long as he did to build a consistent winner at Duke.
It's a tough time to be an AD.

When teams have a strong fan base and they aren't winning you get that. When Carolina and Duke go journey through the desert, and sooner or later they will, you can bet your bottom dollar their fans will react the same way. It is human nature.

He will probably have to either go to a mid-major or take a position as an assistant at a major program before he can get a job as head coach in a major conference.

I think Crean is a good coach, but I'm not sure the NC State fanbase would like the optics of hiring a retread that just flamed out at a blue-blood.

Carolina went through that ish with Doh and very few blamed anyone outside of the UNC administration or AD office. Doh wasn't ready for such a huge task and it didn't help that he alienated everyone, even the basketball office people.
