De-commit from University of California Santa Barbara in late March. Since then Hawaii, Northern Arizona, University of Illinois Circle, Portland, Seattle and us have offered. Not sure if he's 6'1 or 6'4, ESPN says 3 stars. Having 3 point guards next year would be good thing.

Judging by his tape, he can play either guard spot. Great looking jumper, can beat guys off the dribble, and some nice athleticism. He really reminds me of a shorter Raven. Surprised he doesn't have bigger offers.

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
So now we have Ty Groce confirming he has signed for next year, so to recap we have Silver G/F, Green JUCO SF, Ellison (sp) PG and Groce SF, that would I believe leave us with one scholarship-Epps?! if Thompson actually leaves to go pro that would leave us with two scholarships to give. I don't see LWH leaving.
And of course there's the open question about assistants for next year.

I assume most would guess that Epps may not have yet met the NCAA qualifying guidelines, be it grades, test scores, etc.
I have NO idea if he is waiting on June grades, maybe take his college board test again, etc.

I think we told Epps no for this year and yes I do think it was academics, maybe Epps goes JUCO or prep school.
The late signing period ends a week from today. So who gets our last scholie?

I would agree.
Remember one thing about prep school: A recruit can improve his test score while continuing his education at a prep school. A player can not improve his GPA in core subjects in prep school.
So, if it was test score, then prep school would work.
If it were grades, then JUCO is the way he'd have to go.

I'm sorry we won't have Epps on this year's team. I hope we will get some consideration from Mr. Epps in the future.

You wonder if Murphy already has the other two players "committed" I could see us getting one guard and one small forward or swingman types. We will have a very young team with one senior next year.

Today is the end of the official late signing period and we still have two openings to fill. After a strong start I was hoping we would be done by now, but here we are with open scholies and two open coaching positions.

I have to believe that most candidates understand that Murphy is in a lame duck year and the AD was not going to renew his contract. However with our ADs gone, Murphy may get two more seasons.,..I hope this doesn't happen because EMU deserves a good coach.

Gentlemen,
I assume these tasks are done or almost done.
As we know, right Luckey, that the announcements won't be made until the 'paperwork' is done. Recruits need to clear compliance. New employees need to have their names sent up the chain.
I'd assume one or both assistant coaches have been selected. If there is a limiting factor it is more likely salary. We don't pour a ton of money into coaches salaries.
No news not equal to bad news.

Marcus Shaver to Portland. Damn.
He would've looked good in EMU green and white.
I highly doubt we fill both scholarships. We will almost certainly fill one of them with a player not currently on the team, and then perhaps use the other on someone like Blake Brown, which would clear it for next season.

what is the significance of the end of the signing season? you can still sign someone today, right? we've signed guys in the summer in the past. as i'm thinking back, a lot of the summer signees were transfers. is the end of signing period different for transfers vs high school kids?
and, bummer about Shaver. i had unrealistic hopes that he would end up in Ypsi.

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
The ONLY difference between signing within and outside the spring signing period boundaries is that outside the boundary (later), the recruit can back out of his LOI w/out penalty.
The school is committed to the student/athlete.
I'm not sure why the NCAA has done this, but they have...

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Per player and coach's twitter D'Andre Bernard is returning to Georgia Highlands for his sophomore year, we had offered him. So far as I know Ty Cockfield, Eddie Reese have not signed, I think Kenrick Gray from Vermont Prep is still unsigned, a player we offered although I think its an outdated offer is Ryan Kiley and of course Epps?! Those are the only public offers I know of. This of course does not include any transfer players we might pick up.
Maybe this will all be resolved by the 4th of July.
