Delaware fans have imploded on their board. Now refer to Coach Brock as Crock.

Conferences don't get bids, teams get bids. W&M needs to take care of business and the rest will sort itself out.

Other Games of Interest
Yes WM needs to take care of business. We're pretty sure with 8 wins we make the playoffs. But there are plenty of teams with 8 or more wins that won't make the playoffs. The reason 8 wins gets us in is because we play in a tough conference. What makes a tough conference? When teams from our conference beat teams from other conferences.

Someone mentioned this on AGS - every road team won among all the CAA games yesterday.

RE: Other Games of Interest
That's kind of where I was going. Right now, we have a SOS according to Sagarin of 203 (all D-I teams) out of about 252 teams. I know the Sagarin is not the end all but it is good to show.
We lost to VT - ranked 34
We beat Norfolk State (224), Hampton (218), Lafayette (188) and Stony Brook (191)
With teams like Towson (216), Elon (213), Delaware (186), and JMU (170) on the schedule, there are only 3 shots at good wins on our schedule and those are Nova (63), UNH (93) and Richmond (120) - We are 123 currently.
Only a few years ago, the worst CAA teams were in the 180s and more than 1/2 were 120-130 or better. That is not the same anymore. Makes it easier to get win but harder to get an at-large if you slip up. Only advantage is that there are more teams in the playoffs than in the past.
Big wins start this upcoming week.

No. In fact, EWU converted on a 4th & 2 to run the clock out with 2 mins left. They assumed ID ST would score if they got the ball back.

I've always strongly believed that you always root for your Conference brethren, except for when you play them. Then, when you beat them your wins look stronger and your conference looks stronger. Nobody respects a conference full of 3-8 teams and one 10-1 team.

RE: Other Games of Interest
I disagree. Imagine this:
W&M (8-4) with a win over UR
UR (9-3)
Albany (9-3)
UNH (9-2)
Nova (10-2)
We're most-likely out. However; an 8-4 UR, assuming we beat them, almost certainly gives us a playoff berth. Obviously, we need to win and we want to win the CAA Title. If we can't do that, we need to be a top 3 CAA team and that means Albany, Maine JMU, and UR need to lose a few.

RE: Other Games of Interest
Overall, I agree with Billymac. I have seen 9-2 teams from the Big South and Patriot get passed over, primarily because of strength-of-schedule, and that's dominated by the conference you play in.
UAlbany started out 4-0 with a freakish one point win over Holy Cross, then wins over Columbia, Central CT and URI. I don't consider them any kind of threat moving forward as a challenger to our record. They could quite possibly lose the remainder of their games and will be underdogs in most of them.

Other Games of Interest
If that's the case and the losses are to FBS and/or conference teams I think we're in easily on strength of the conference.

RE: Other Games of Interest
I think the true answer, really, is (shockingly, I know) somewhere in the middle.
If the rest of the CAA lost all of their OOC games, we'd be in a position like we are in basketball - must win the conference to get a bid to the playoffs.
So, we need the CAA to be strong and win OOC games. However, I think Tribal is somewhat right in that we want our closest competition to slip-up here and there to make our path a little bit easier.
I tend to lean towards wanting CAA teams to win their OOC games and then we just take care of business and not lose more than a couple of games in conference and know that we'll be in the playoffs. With the other CAA teams winning their OOC games, we know that two CAA losses is almost a guaranteed playoff birth and three often is (assuming we take care of business in non-FBS OOC).
Realistically where we are now the top teams in the CAA are going to win their non-FBS OOC games. So Tribal rooting for a slip-up now and then makes sense.

I always root (sometimes reluctantly) for CAA teams to win their OOC games. We control our destiny. If we want the CAA to continue to receive three, four, or even five bids to the playoffs we need to remain one of the top conferences in the country. Only way to do that is win OOC games and playoff games. Plus, if CAA teams start losing games to NEC and PL programs on the regular and the PL with scholarships starts competing for more recruits.

Wouldn't this be an example of us not "taking care of business" though? If we beat UR there is no reason we should go 8-4 because we should absolutely beat Delaware, JMU, Elon, and Towson.

When teams start raising banners for titles their conference mates win, I'll start rooting for the conference. Until then I'll root for W&M to win and for our rivals to humiliate themselves in new and spectacular ways.

Albany still has Richmond, @UNH, and @Nova to go. Also have Maine and Stony Brook and have already lost to JMU. I see 3 more losses minimum from that group and likely more. Wouldn't be surprised to see them lose all 5 of those.

Believe it or not, Stony Brook should be the concern, not UAlbany.
SBU is 1-1 and only a game at UNH that they won't be favored. No Villanova, no UR, no Delaware. They could well end at 6-2 in the CAA.

Took a look at stats. While not the whole story stats give some indicators worth noting
JMU/UA even except UA had the ball +15 mins
SB/Tow even except score
SH/UD SH some better
UNH/Elon thump +10 min
NOVA/Maine thump
NOVA more balanced than most others with some extra emphasis on passing (may be due to extra yds per pass)

RE: Other Games of Interest
With the CAA being down this year, we may get in at 8-4, but I don't think it is certain, as it was in years past. I think we need to be 9-3 to be certain of getting in the playoffs this season. We could go 8-4 and not beat anyone ranked over 170.
