Only somewhat viable scenario to root for is: a.) NCAA to uphold 12-member requirement to hold a conference championship game; and b.) the CFP committee to shaft the bxii champion a couple times due to no championship game, with one of the two times being Texas.

That above Step 1 gives the BXII incentive to expand by 2.

From there, I see the BXII expanding via one of two duos:
A. Brigham Young & Cincinnati
B. Central Florida & South Florida

Scenario "A" means the AAC expands by 1; Scenario "B" means the AAC expands by 2.

NIU would be competing with (in no order):
- Rice
- Louisiana
- Southern Mississippi
- Marshall
- Ohio
- Toledo
- Army
- Massachusetts

Keep in mind you won't see the PAC poach BXII or B1G poach ACC/BXII (both scenarios would inflict residual damage on AAC, causing them to refill) until 202X because of each conference's ironclad GOR.

So we're exclusively relying on the uppost scenario unless something drastically unexpected happens (PAC poaches MWC, BXII expands to 14/16, ACC expands to 16 with Connecticut/Cincinnati... Or really far-fetched: B1G acquires Missouri/Connecticut, SEC backfills with SMU due to ACC's/BXII's GOR, AAC left with 2 spots open).

I could see BYU and Boise State to the Big 12.

While I'd be very surprised if B12 took Boise's academic profile/market/dire recruiting grounds, I'd be fascinated with who the MWC selects as a replacement.

They won't be able to poach the AAC, so they're left with all sub-AAC teams.

I think NIU would be competing with El Paso/San Antonio/Rice in such a scenario. No other viable candidate west of the Mississippi, though I guess North Dakota St/Montana could be darkhorse candidates.

MWC wants to get in Texas badly. Even if they need 2 teams I don't see them looking outside of that state with 5 FBS teams in TX between CUSA and the Sun Belt.

Teams like Houston, SMU, and Tulsa have been looked at by the MWC in the past. It's possible they could try to pull those programs from the AAC in which case there would be openings there...

RE: NIU Stadium Expansion Renovation.
The size of Huskie Stadium shouldn't matter at this point if we are all under the agreement that seats will be added and it will be upgraded. It's more about the timing and what promises we've made to the MAC or other conferences who have inquired about realignment. Only time will tell, but an announcement could be made prior to stadium upgrades dependent upon those upgrades. we'll see what happens, now let's go beat Arkansas.
