Asked this on the Big East Board, but thought I'd do the same thing with the AAC. Is this year better than, worse than, or about what you were expecting for the basketball. I know a majority for the BE thought it was worse than what we expected(of course, this was about 2-3 weeks ago, before Georgetown, St John's, and Marquette bounced back).
My thought for the AAC is it's probably better than what I was expecting. Not that I didn't think you'd be good- but didn't think SMU was going to be that good, and that's been crucial to your success. Even with Temple down, that's huge.

Better. 5 teams qualifying out of 10 is quite good. This is a strong league.

RE: This season
It's weird because having 5 ranked teams couldn't have been dreamed of at the beginning of the season but man the bottom 5 are way worse than expected. It's a mixed bag but I think that it is more important having the 5 ranked teams right now than having a league top to bottom that is competitive and only getting say 3 bids. Making noise in the rankings and tournament is crucial in the early life in this conference so it's a good thing but in the future it's going to be critical the bottom half starts being competitive.

I agree- just could see some folks thinking that AAC would have Memphis, Louisville, UConn, Cincy, and then Temple- so still 5 teams qualifying- just a different 5. It's just bizarre to see Temple at 6-17 right now- with SMU, UConn, Memphis, and Louisville on deck.

Voted - Better than
We knew of Larry Brown at SMU, but the quick forward progress there, I'm definitely impressed... Temple totally a different story, but comfortable enough to see them get back up.

About what I expected, SMU & Cincy have been better than I thought and Temple & Louisville not as good as I thought they would be.

Better than. And tired of hearing about the bottom five. They are not as bad as seems. Temple, Houston and USF all played tough games against UC. They will all be better next year.

Way better than I expected. I figured one of the 4 usual teams would have an off year (UC, UL, Memphis, Uconn). All 4 of them are playing well and then we have SMU that is playing really well. SMU was a nice bonus this year. Toss this on our BCS football win over the Big 12 champ and it is a lights out year. The p-5 can't honestly say that our league doesn't deserve to be apart of the majors after this year season.

Better than I expected. Didn't think SMU and UCONN would be this good. Larry Brown is a game changer. Refs are quite the game changer for UCONN.

Voted better than expected, and when you lose because of a ref's call, you can't ***** about the outcome because the game was obviously a toss up or the ref's call wouldn't have had the effect you're complaining about. Let it go Tigers fans, you lost a tough game. You'll still be a tourney team. I'm sure Memphis will peak at the right time.

UC and SMU are better than I expected.
I expected this from UL and Uconn.
Memphis is probably not as good as I expected.
Temple and the bottom of the conference are way worse than anyone expected.

Nice to have you posting on our board again Stever, and any SMU fan that votes anything than "better" is not being honest.

UC is better than expected
I assumed Temple would be better...but that was based on perceived reputation not knowledge of the team.
Thought memphis would be better.
SMU is the big surprise.

UC is better.
UCONN, Memphis, and Louisville are where I thought they'd be.
Temple is down; SMU is up.
Slightly better, but pretty much what I thought it would be (a 5 bid league)...

I thought Louisville, Memphis, UConn, Temple would all be better but thats always been the nature of This conference, going back to including the old Big East, that like Temple knocking off SMU You Must always bring Your A Game or pay the piper. The AAC Basketball is in good hands.

At 20-4 it sounds weird, but not as good as I thought we would be. Lost a couple that we let slip away so that is disappointing. Still think we have as good a chance as any for a trip to a third straight Final Four.

For the league what I expected...thought Temple would be in SMU spot...even with the upset today i expect them to be in the NCAA's.
As for Louisville...a mixed bag...going into the year didn't expect Chane Behanan personal demons cause him to be at this time heading to Colorado State and didn't expect Kevin Ware would be completely shut down...even with that 20-4 and aecond in the AAC I can't complain.
