I'm saying that is what I would have preferred over the demolition of City hall. It's already too late for that.
I don't mind having a new arena. I just don't see why it has to be downtown.
your dumb ass needs to contact enemasU... Please leave actual thinking to professionals.

I'm fine with the arena because that is what the people voted for.
The question is did they vote for an arena or a "downtown arena"?
Second. Why does the arena have to be downtown?

Very good point. It's odd that so many representatives would vote for everything that has gone on in Downtown when the focus and money clearly should be spread city wide.

You think it should be spent city wide. That doesn't mean it clearly should.

People have been moving to the east and west sides of the city for years now. It should make sense that these areas need the attention of the city.
It just doesn't make sense to me to try and rebuild a portion of the city where a whole lot of people don't live anymore.

So where do you put it? If people are moving to the east and west sides where do you put the stadium?
How about somewhere in the middle that is centrally located to all parts of town that could be an entertainment hub for the city?

I saw that dipshet drunk off his azz at the three-legged monkey a couple of years ago. He is as much of a moron in person as he is in his public capacity.

RE: The Official Downtown Baseball Stadium Discussion Thread
Downtown, not downtown. City Hall is worthless, worth 50 million dollars. Blah Blah Blah. Regardless of where you stand on these issues, Holguin is setting our city back. Six Flags, Dave and Busters, etc etc, all have market research teams. Anyone who is remotely interested in El Paso is going to see how the new City Council is treating MountainStar (who doesn't even want to earn a profit on the baseball team) and will wonder if El Paso is worth the hassle. Holguin is an idiot.

Holguin is just looking out for his constituents. They don't have as much disposable money as those who want to enjoy dropping a minimum of forty dollars on a game.
If anything Holguin, with his motion, has gotten MountainStar to admit that they will not guiarantee to pay the 12 million.

RE: The Official Downtown Baseball Stadium Discussion Thread
The minimum ticket to an El Paso Triple A baseball game will not be $40. One could take the bus and avoid parking fees. So you are already wrong there.
MountainStar was not there today. So you are wrong about that too.

I never said the ticket would be forty. I suppose someone could get in for less than forty and not purchase anything.
Suppose you want to take your family though. I have two daughters.
What do you suppose a family of four should expect to pay to enjoy a game? Is that something that is doable for Holguin's constituents?

A family of four at the very least should expect to pay for four general admission tickets.

You are missing the point. Holguin knows that many of his constituents will never have the disposable cash to enjoy baseball games in the first place so he wants to make sure that none of their tax payer money ever goes to the building of a baseball stadium.
It may be the case now that it won't come from tax payer money but it may not be the case forever.
Most people don't think deeply enough to understand why people vote the way they do. I'm sure a lot of people think Holguin is doing it simply because he hates rich people.
I know you however understand that it is more complicated than that.

RE: The Official Downtown Baseball Stadium Discussion Thread
In the derailed thread regarding naming the triple A franchise, I clearly explain how tax money is not going toward the stadium. Holguin has this same information. The HOT tax is not going away. MountainStar is contractually binded to pay 12 million. The cost of the stadium is covered. Again, Holguin knows that. I lost all respect for him when he appeard on Xtra. He was saying exactly what the crabs wanted to hear in order to get stirred up. He isn't being earnest.

They will never afford a 6 dollar ticket? You serious?
Or is this just crazy talk?
