I like the idea of whoever said that basically all the teams after 125 or so should all count the same.

That would end up screwing teams from mid-major conferences.

RE: UC 110 in RPI
Look at a team like Iona who sits at 15-5 and with a lower SOS than UC yet who sits in the top 50. Their sole huge wins are Denver and St. Joes.

RPI is a joke.

Only the really bad ones. There are plenty of mid majors scattered in the top 100. Those 150 plus rpi teams only matter come tourney time in that they factor into the top 100's SOS and RPI.

RE: UC 110 in RPI
Look we can complain all we want at RPI, which as a system for ranking teams is certainly flawed. BUT it is also an easy system to understand. For what it does it has been reasonably effective over the years for rewarding teams that schedule well and win games. The NCAA committee wants to reward that when it comes to the big jumble of teams that are fighting at the end of the line to make the NCAA tournament. In general, I agree with that, whether it hurts UC or not. Everyone knows the system, and the importance of scheduling well enough to be helped (not hurt) but the RPI. If we do not want to be threatened with this problem, we need to schedule better. If we do not we'll keep having this discussing every year. I think UC can do well enough down the stretch to make the tourney and earn a decent seed, but the issues we are having right now are completely our fault. A team ranked 150 in the RPI is not the same as a team ranked 300. A team ranked 150 would likely destroy the team ranked 300. It would be dumb to make the RPI try to act like those two are the same, and it would hurt the mid majors who schedule a lot of those middle road teams to have a chance at the end of the year. We are the victims of our own ineptitude right now. It is convenient to blame the system. But it is silly.

Once they weighed home and road victories I have jumped off the RPI bandwagon.

RE: UC 110 in RPI
the system truly is broken; Pittsburgh (95) has gone ahead of the cats (97).

No effin way. UC wins 10 of 10 on a neutral court versus that bunch.

EDIT: Pitt beats G'town, UC loses at Rutgers. I retract my prior statement. UC slides to 100 in RPI.

That's hilarious. So is your signature. I'll assume you are being sarcastic and making fun of the morons that still think MC has not done a great job with what he walked into. Hilarious stuff.

Nope. Unless making fun of himself. He's been updating that selectively since 2007 or so when he started calling for Mick to be fired.

I know, I was calling him a moron. The internet needs a way for sarcasm to be easily conveyed ASAP.

BTW:

Here is the predictor info for UC's remaining games from realtimerpi

02-04 DePaul 11-9 (2-6) 156 75-60 W - Scouting
02-08 at St. John's 9-11 (3-6) 155 69-68 W - Scouting
02-11 at Marquette 17-4 (6-2) 9 65-77 L - Scouting
02-15 Providence 12-9 (1-7) 133 75-61 W - Scouting
02-18 Seton Hall 15-5 (4-4) 19 73-66 W - Scouting
02-23 Louisville 16-5 (4-4) 37 75-66 W - Scouting

RE: UC 110 in RPI
With Rutgers, it just depends on which team decides to show up. I guess the same thing can be applied to St. John's. UC should win both of those games.

Depaul, USF, and Providence are the games I expect UC to win comfortably. I realize USF is on the road, but it's USF. I expect UC to win vs. Louisville too.

The matchup that worry me are those against Marquette, which is worse because they have to play them twice. Seton Hall could give them some trouble too.
