University of Memphis related (speed bumps) - jamammy - 08-24-2017 04:36 PM

I am hoping someone here can answer this question.

Why doesn't the University or the city place speed bumps along campus on Southern Avenue? Saw a car pass another car headed west on Southern with students crossing the street. Had to be doing 60 and there was a stop sign coming up in less than 400 feet.

Sounds like a random incident of general *ssholery to me.

I doubt this sort of thing happens during the bulk of the semesters when there's healthy foot traffic across Southern eight hours a day.

The question is why are there not speed bumps on Southern Avenue to slow driving traffic to ensure safety of students and other pedestrians? There are speed bumps on almost every single road the runs into Southern. Makes zero sense oustsde of some stupid ordinance from the City of Memphis.

I asked for speed bumps for my old street but was told it was a street the fire department used to get through a neighborhood and they weren't able to use them.

Tell them you won't pay your property taxes until speed bumps are installed.

Hopefully this changes soon. Don't they have some on Central now?

This should be done at the same time as the Paterson realignment.

People will be flying through there after that happens.
