JMU and Washington Nats College Day - olddawg - 03-28-2017 05:56 PM

Nice to be recognized as a local institution for a change. Kudos to the Nats, JMU and JMU alumni club for getting this done.

Here's the schedule for their "College" days this season:

June 24 vs. Reds - University of Virginia
July 9 vs. Reds - University of Maryland
August 8 vs. Marlins - Virginia Tech
August 15 vs. Angels - James Madison University
September 12 vs. Braves - George Washington University
September 14 vs. Braves - Georgetown University

Come show your school pride on one of six College Days at the ballpark. Join faculty, alumni and fans as your school takes over the ballpark for a day. With the purchase of a special ticket, you will receive a discounted game ticket and a New Era Nationals hat with your school's logo.

While there, make sure to find a DC drafts stand and drink some Port City. Port City is owned by JMU alum Bill Butcher. Last year they served optimal wit above section 110 in the left field corner. They do rotate them around so you can tweet port city while there for locations.

I saw these in their stadium store last year when I was there for a game. So even if you can't make it to JMU night, if you go there for a game you can get one of the hat's in the stadium.

I will say that's nice company. No Mason, VCU, ODU, etc. Giving the Dukes some props.

Yeah, I was a little shocked there was no Mason or Howard day.

glad the dukes are getting their props, could have very easily been left out with odu, mason and vcu. hope we show up and help ticket sales, to at least finish middle of the pack.

I only wish we had our new 3-letter logo instead of what looks to be "DUKES"... personal preference, but, residing outside the dmv I prefer clothing with JMU vs Dukes...

When I worked for the Richmond Braves, we had a "penny war" where it was college night and we had milk jugs set out for a few state schools and whatever school had the most pennies at the end of the 5th inning, got the total value of all pennies go toward their athletic scholarship program. Tech Won...just over $2000 I think.

With all of that said, the Nationals should have a competition between all six schools. Whoever has the most tickets sold, should get a small percentage back to their school, maybe the school's baseball program? Or even maybe which baseball team gets to scrimmage the nats next spring training? I don't know...but add a small value for the fans to get behind and help drive ticket sales.
