Valid criticism, but I'd also point out that much of that list consists of guys that coached at blue blood programs. Heck of a lot easier, IMHO, to recruit top talent at places like Duke, UNC, UK and UCLA. Of course, the counterargument is that it's a heck of a lot easier to rack up 800 victories with CUSA and Great Midwest competition

There were a lot of good teams in Metro/Great Midwest/CUSA
Ville, Memphis, DePaul, Marquette, St. Louis, UNCC etc.

Are we talking Naismith or NCB Hall of Fame? Naismith is pretty selective. NCB has plenty of guys that didn't win a national title. Heck, I believe Lefty Driesell is an inductee and he never made it to a final four. If guys like Driesell and Eddie Sutton are in, Huggins has to be in.

I'm among the biggest Huggs admirers you'll find but I think he's a clear third behind the Big O and Ed Jucker. Jucker had a three years stretch with two national championships and a runner up. IIRC he still might have the best winning percentage in the NCAA tournament. His career winning percentage was .801. He was the original architect of the tough, defense first brand of basketball UC's always been known for. Not only that, he recruited Sandy Koufax to UC.

I don't disagree that Jucker wasn't incredible in his short stint. For that matter George Smith for recruiting Oscar as well as the rosters for the back to back title teams.

However, I still think Huggins is way more recognized as related to UC than Jucker.
