RE: Visitors this weekend (Champlin article at post #2)
I am noticing a pattern when it comes to some of our recruits. UAB is being used by somewhat simliar to how some coaches use flirting with other schools to get a larger contract or some other benefit.
I notice this pattern prior to the Courtney Foy statement that he was going to Junior college, however according to his quote, he would have gone to one of two other major colleges if he had gotten his his academics in order.
This type of attitude, that I will commit to the Blazers to get my name out there until someone else come looking is at best, a good move on the recruits part, but at worst, leaves the Blazers spending recruting budgets in the identification of the recruit and then having to fend off suitors.
I am for early signing periods to keep other colleges from plucking off recruits from UAB.

Yeah, but it works both ways. We are trying to steal commitments as well (see WKU's commit).

Yep, I know it does, but at least in the scheme of things and fairness, Clemson and other so called BCS schools budgets are such that they can afford to invest in recruiting a kid, miss out and recruit a similar kid,we on the other hand, have to get it right more often, and our budget and W.Kentucky's budget, I expect are some what more simliar then our budget, Kentucky, Cincy and Clemson.

I doubt Petrino gives a flip about the recruiting budget. He'll do what he wants...
