RE: Memphis to host 2019 conference basketball tournament
Back in the C-USA days having the tournament in Memphis was a bloodbath for the rest of the league. Now with teams like UCONN, Cincinnati, and Wichita State in the fold (and teams like SMU coming back to prominence), I don't have an issue with it. Good venue, good fan support, easy to get to... good tourist town.

Speaking in generalities is not your strong suit.

Yeah, I guess if you're comparing Memphis and Wichita State to the lowest attendance numbers in the SEC. 03-lmfao

How's this for generalities?

SEC schools distance to Nashville (average attendance)
Vandy = 0 miles (11K)
UTK = 170 miles (14K)
UK = 180 miles (23K)
Bama = 247 miles (13K)
Ole Miss = 258 miles (8K)
Ms St = 298 miles (7K)
AU = 301 miles (8K)
UGA = 305 miles (7K)

Avg Distance (Crowd) = 220 miles (10K)

AAC schools distance to Memphis (average attendance)
Memphis = 0 miles (12K)
Tulane = 393 miles (2K)
Tulsa = 403 miles (5K)
SMU = 453 miles (7K)
Cincy = 483 miles (9K)
Houston = 574 miles (4K)
Wichita = 578 miles (11K)
UCF = 758 miles (5K)

Avgance Dist (Crowd) = 455 miles (7K)

Note that ALL of those SEC schools are closer than the next closest school to Memphis. And having the tournament in Memphis is our best case scenario when it comes to drawing a crowd.

As someone that drives a lot, and extra hundred miles or so isn't a deal breaker. It's much ado about nothing. Whether flying of driving, its getting into the car/plane for the day and finding your hotel.

There are more basketball focused schools in the AAC than the SEC.

The primary reason the SEC Tourney is in Nashville is because it is close to the hordes of KY fans flooding downtown. The KY games are like Lexington South. It is a money maker for the SEC.

I'm glad you took time out of your busy schedule of not supporting the conference tournament in your own backyard to come down from on high to pass judgment.

Truly, we would be lost without you.

One of my fellow Husky fans said it best. We should've never hosted the 2nd time, once was enough. The only reason we hosted last year was because Orlando had a scheduling conflict and couldn't host.

But don't let that fact get in the way of your oh so witty dig at Husky Nation. Now if you'll excuse me I've got some National Championship trophies to shine. You Shocker fans wouldn't know about that sort of thing.

So because Hartford failed, it has to be Memphis and Memphis only?

More crappy UCon logic.

I kinda forgot what it was like having triple-digit RPI's and sub-.500 records. Can you elaborate on what it feels like?

I only know what winning championships feels like. I realize that's a foreign concept to folks in Wichita, but that's been my experience.

As to your question, no rational UCONN fan wants "the guy on the right" fired. That's just something ginned up by fans of the other 10 AAC schools. They hate us cuz they ain't us. Just ask that Cincy troll who answered your question for UCONN fans. He totally has the pulse of Husky Nation. 03-lmfao03-lmfao

FYI: that guy on the right is named Kevin Ollie and he's done something your pathetic HC has never done...won a championship.

So does Loyola Chicago. What's your point?

I guess while you sniff on polish fumes, it can numb your way through the losing seasons that have piled up since then.

With Calhoun scraps.

Your entire program is defined by one person. And now you're seeing the reality of the situation. And then of course, you blame it on the AAC, instead of your own shortcomings.

Just please be relevant again before the Big East totally forgets about you.

UConn has the best resume in the AAC and it is not close. The irony of a WSU fan pinning UConn's outstanding accomplishments on one coach is not lost on me.

Are you serious?? You're telling a program that won the national championship in 2014, their 4th in the past twenty years, to be relevant again? And you're doing this when your greatest accomplishmeht ever is a final four appearance. Do you know ignorant that makes you look?

Hell SMU is 7-2 against UConn since the start of the AAC. We have two conference Championships to their none but I'd never talk trash to them unless it was in a very subtle way like pointing out the above because they have the national championships.

BTW, I'm calling it right now, UConn will beat WSU in Hartford/Storrs.

Also, isn't your entire program defined by one person, Gregg Marshall?

Feels good.

Is the guy on the right the one every UCon fan wants fired?

I'm guessing the lack of a second N in UCONN is some special dig that you Wichita fans have for winners like us? Funny.

With Calhoun scraps.

Your entire program is defined by one person. And now you're seeing the reality of the situation. And then obf course, you blame it on the AAC, instead of your own shortcomings.

Just please be relevant again before the Big East totally forgets about you.

Also, isn't your entire program defined by one person, Gregg Marshall?

Aren't we defined by Larry until we prove otherwise?

More crappy UCon logic.

I kinda forgot what it was like having triple-digit RPI's and sub-.500 records. Can you elaborate on what it feels like?

And? He at least won something. A foreign concept to that overrated clown you call a head coach.

Hey, here's an easy question. When was the last time Wichita won a national championship in basketball? Take your time, I'm not going anywhere.

I only know what winning championships feels like. I realize that's a foreign concept to folks in Wichita, but that's been my experience.

So does Loyola Chicago. What's your point?

I guess while you sniff on polish fumes, it can numb your way through the losing seasons that have piled up since then.

My point? That UCONN wins national championships and Wichita doesn't and likely never will. What's your excuse going to be when you fail to win the National Championship this year? Or next year? Or the year after that, etc.? Blame UCONN?

I just sent this new slogan to your Athletic Department. Let's see if they use it..."Wichita St: It's all UCONN's fault!!"
