My thoughts are congrats to the Knights. They are the only undefeated team in the country and they were left out a bias system. I agree they have the right to claim a natty. If you are not invited to the party, throw your own party.

Much of the "weaker" of those conferences would go away with full access to the playoffs.
If all conference champions had access then their tv interest, fan bases, revenue, and recruiting ability would not be abnormally stunted by having no shot.

If App went undefeated in SBC play and beat a bad big 10 school, a mediocre CUSA school, a very very bad FCS OVC school, and then won by the hair on their knuckles over a school not in the top 5 in a bowl game, I would hope and pray that our administration would not do something as stupid as declaring themselves a national champion.

If App went undefeated in SBC play and beat a bad big 10 school, a mediocre CUSA school, a very very bad FCS OVC school, and then won by the hair on their knuckles over a school not in the top 5 in a bowl game, I would hope and pray that our administration would not do something as stupid as declaring themselves a national champion.
They are doing it tongue in cheek to highlight the completely absurd travesty of them (and us) having absolutely zero opportunity to win a championship in our own sports league due to a subjective and arbitrary status quo that protects an existing monopoly.
I would hope my school would do that too and have just as much fun with it.

Prove? We can prove they barely beat only two top 25 teams.
The problem here is that people want to make a post-hoc declaration that UCF should be in the CFP or should be the national champ based on the bowl game. Not one person was saying they needed to be in the CFP before the Peach Bowl.
Yet the one team that most everyone agreed deserved the #1 seed based on the regular season gets beaten soundly by Alabama, and people want to say Alabama didn't deserve to be in. Alabama beat convincingly a team that beat Auburn, so applying that logic Alabama has to be better, right?
BTW, where was all the complaining that Western Michigan didn't make the CFP when they were undefeated?
Hindsight is 20-20, you've got to put the best 4 teams in using the most fair way possible, and that was done.

It's irrelevant. I think we need to go to 8, and that would have given them a chance they probably deserved. But I have real doubts that they would be national champions. In the end I think they got the best four teams playing for a national championship. UCF would not have been one of them if I was on the committee, so for me it's a moot point.
