LSU staying ranked all year is all you need to know about the rankings. That’s Alabama’s best win as well. Total joke.

I actually fully support doing this to ruffle feathers...but I've got a feeling it's really more self-congratulatory "Power 6" talk that won't really bring us closer to a playoff expansion.
The P6 talk is garbage, trying to demean peers and kick them down the ladder.

UCF'S talk is finding themselves in a rare fortunate position and using it to exert influence and highlight disparities on behalf of its peers to move them up the ladder.

I see a big difference.

When did the AAC demean anyone. I've never heard Aresco say one word about the Sun Belt.

By the way, define "peer". The AAC is 3-0 in NY6 games, has won national championships in both men's and women's basketball. The MWC is the only G so called 5 conference to win a major bowl game and that was just Boise, not the MWC. No other G so called 5 have won one. That is not peers under any definition of the word.

Honestly, what I see is a lot of other conferences who haven't won anything, trying to ride the AAC's coattails.

Exactly these schools have done nothing and want the AAC to hold their hand and form a circle of trust. Teams are in AAC for a reason and I could care less what happens to the Sun Belt or any other conference.

Stop whining about the P6 and get your own plan of action. We are not all in this together. It’s a battle of the strongest plain and simple.

I think the AAC is riding UCF's coattails. The league has 11 football schools and one school has two-thirds of the major bowl wins. The AAC schools aren't in this together and it's every school for themself.

See how that works?

LOL...ECU better get their program sorted soon if its really survival of the fittest.

It is survival of the fittest and every school for themselves. But that does not mean that cooperation can benefit individual schools more than a complete free-for-all.

That's why we have conferences and why the Alabamas and Ohio States of college football are willing to share revenues with Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. And why the AAC just doesn't kick Tulane out of their conference.

ECU was ranked a few years ago and was the first school outside of the So called Power conferences to be ranked by the CFP committee. We are certainly struggling now, but we were the first AAC football school to get respect under the new playoff system by being ranked above all of the AAC schools. Also led the attendance race as well. We make plenty of contributions.

Duplicate post , sorry
The AAC's message is going to be a little muddy until they figure out whether it's about inclusion in general or inclusion of the AAC only. At the moment, respect for the conference as a whole probably isn't strong enough to make it about the AAC. Hell, even when the old Big East was a Big Six conference, undefeated Cincinnati wasn't spoken of seriously as a championship contender. They might have made a 4-team playoff as it's currently decided, but I kind of doubt it.

Maybe a few more years of the P6 campaign (and some more big bowl wins, ideally by someone besides UCF and Houston to avoid falling into the "it's just Boise" situation) will alter perception.

I doubt "altering perception" is going to make any difference at all. They can Boise and P6 and win an access bowl for years and they will still not be added to the P5 PTB.

The only way for changes are for all of the G5's together insisting on rational access to post-season as a regular sports league.

No money, no wealth redistribution, just regular access for conference champions. With that the P5/G5 gap will naturally go away over time and all of college football will be a real sport and much healthier.

All they care about is feeling superior to SOMEBODY. As long as their fans get that they have no motivation to try to cooperate for real rational changes in the system. Which leaves them as a permanent underclass pawn of the big boys. Sounds familiar and very American.
lol, y'all have gone and got pissed about some marketing...you guys should try marketing yourselves over being mad about us.

I mean, it's title week and Finebaum/Bianchi are on tv debating if UCF has a claim to a title...it's how you crash their party without even being there.

Surprisingly, I agree with every word here.04-cheers
I believe that UCF has more of a right to a shot at the national championship than Alabama and Georgia. They have a good case to claim a title and anyone of us would be saying this if it was our team left out of the picture.
(01-05-2018 10:07 AM)Tom in Lazybrook Wrote: [ -> ]It sucks for them, but they didn't schedule anyone. And just like any G5, they could have gotten an away game at a top school.

Here's their resume

FIU - Won 7 FBS games, but did so against teams that combined for a total FBS record of 27-54 (only 1 team had a winning record)
Maryland (road) - Won 3 FBS games
Memphis (twice at home) - They're a good team, but no real resume builder this year. Beat ULM and UCLA out of conference.
Cincy - Won 3 FBS games
ECU - Won 3 FBS games and lost to a FCS team
Navy - Won 7 FBS games
Austin Peay - FCS games only count if you lose them
SMU - Won 6 FBS games
UConn - Won 2 FBS games
Temple - Won 6 FBS games
USF - Legit decent team, winning 9 games. But again, combined record of teams they beat.....28 wins and 77 losses.

Auburn - Definite statement win. But Auburn had FOUR losses.

If UCF had played and beaten Auburn during the regular season, they would have deserved to go to the playoffs, but they chose instead to schedule 2 crappy P5s that historically will rarely be on of any team's 'playoff resume'.

Here's another schedule that apparently makes you #4 in the nation

6-6 shouldn't have been bowl eligible team
10-4 Fresno - won 9 FBS games
7-5 CSU (didn't beat a single winning team)
@ 5-7 Vandy - won 4 FBS games
6-6 Ole miss - won 5 FBS games
@ 7-5 Texas A&M - won 6 FBS games
4-8 Arkansas - won 3 FBS games
4-8 Tennessee - won 3 FBS games
#20 9-4 LSU - won 8 FBS games
@ #26 9-4 Miss. State - won 8 FBS games
5-6 Mercer - won 0 FBS games

*Didn't win division
*Didn't win conference championship
*Didn't beat a top 15 team all year

This gets you into the playoff apparently

Yep.

And according to the dolt above, it’s apparently UCFs fault that the Bama and Georgias of the world aren’t on our schedule.

Not that Bama would rather schedule teams like Mercer and Citadel.

The only SEC teams to play UCF in the past 10 years OOC are South Carolina and Missouri. That’s it. Absolutely no other SEC teams have agreed to play and surely none will now.
