JMU received an early commitment from 6'5 SF Christian Depollar. Depollar plays for St. Stephens & St Agnes School in Alexandria, VA. He is also part of the DC Bluedevils AAU program.
He's an interesting recruit in that he garnered a lot of early interest going back to his Freshman year. Most recently he went on an unofficial visit to Va Tech over the Summer and was being recruited by some Ivy league schools (Columbia and Princeton). JMU was his only official offer from what I can tell but it's pretty early in the 2019 recruiting process so based on the interest from other programs JMU may have landed a bit of a steal here.
Nice! Thanks for the update, NJ!
Great to see Rowe continuing to do well in the state and Mid-Atlantic. There's more than enough solid talent here in our own backyard. Seems like between the DMV and other ties the staff has to Florida and Ohio, we should continue to do well. Welcome, Mr. Depollar, to the JMU Family.
...please move post to the sticky above.
Thought I saw he had an offer from Dartmouth
Via verbal commits- he reopened his recruitment yesterday. Kind of an odd timed commit in the first place.
Recruiting notes
» Bullis point guard Vado Morse verbally committed to Mount St. Mary’s on Monday, according to Scout’s Evan Daniels. Morse, who plays for New World on the AAU circuit, had offers from Mount St. Mary’s and James Madison

This is a 2018 recruit and this news is from July...
May be a little early for a 2020 MBB recruiting thread, I dunno. I see on VerbalCommits.com that we have offered 3 rising juniors from the Atlanta area. Per the NCAA recruiting calendar, coaches were allowed to begin contacting 2020 recruits Friday/yesterday (technically at midnight Thursday night), so not surprised to see a flurry of offers getting out there and likely more to come to rising juniors.
You'll likely continue to see some offers announced over the next few days. JMU just hosted an elite camp. Lot of 2020 offers as a result of having kids on campus.

Glad we are hosting camps.....it is always a good thing just to get the kids on campus.
A check of verbalcommits.com advises the Dukes offered 6'9" PF Joel Kabimba yesterday. He's at Middleburg Academy in NoVa.
Tweets advising he's having an excellent camp at the Scouts Focus event at Charlottesville High School.

verbalcommits.com only shows JMU & Norfolk State currently offering. Hopefully getting in early for a commit that may be about to blow up in terms of recruitment could help our chances. We'll see...
Keep an eye on Odessa Juco. Years ago they produced Larry Johnson. Most recently JMU recruited Develle Phillips from Odessa. It's the highest level of Juco in the country. In recent weeks they have nabbed 3 recruits of note- one a 7 foot transfer from Dayton, another a wing James Reese from Buffalo who JMU recruited out of high school. A third- a SG from Linden NJ (1st team all state) Tavon Jones.
The only thing working against the Dukes is that their head coach left to be an assistant at Iona. The new Head guy was formerly an assistant at UTEP. Hopefully JMU stays close to this program because it could be a nice pipeline of prospects- example Reese in 2019, Jones in 2020.
