I don't know about the Marxists but If I was the chief of police, I would like to know w who's idea this was and would have a very stern talk with that person.
Dogs .. h20 cannons work well. Bottom line just arrest the individuals that are breaking the law. It's really just that simple.

Free speech right... or are against that? What's wrong with the open dialogue of expression ? Police opinions matter.. do they not?
The police are an extension of the community, government and civic combo the same community that pays taxes and expects a return. Where as the other group is comprised of urban filth that only destroy and cause damage to community property

I'm not concerned about appeasing them. But if it boosts the morale of my officers, then by all means.
It's time for these radical anti-American groups to be shut down. You can be a member if you want, but you WILL adhere to the law.
A person's right to assemble is ONLY guaranteed by the Constitution if he or she assembles peacefully. If anyone crosses that line then the full weight of the law needs to hammer down on them. Hard. Maximum jail time per offense.
If we let things slide then they'll continue to grow and get more offensive. Instead, we should set the tone that it will NOT be tolerated - period. No exceptions.

When did I say they cannot say what they are saying? This isn't about free speech.
This is about what they are attempting to do. Are they trying to escalate or deescalate the situation?
I know this from my years of teaching that when you are presented with someone who is confrontational and potentially violent, you don't do anything that might escalate the situation.

Actually, this is now under dispute, as there is nobody else reporting the claim that the cops were chanting/doing anything, Fit. All the reports of this claim are coming specifically from a "rereport" of the original claim. No verification.
I can't read the story (as I'm getting the you must subscribe message). However, there is a problem that apparently the report claim came from a St. Louis post dispatch photographer, who got _Zero_ pictures of the cops making this chant.
(if there are photos in the WaPo story, again, I can't see them, so I can only go by what's popped up on radio and newsfeeds.)

I saw the video yesterday on the news and heard the chanting but I didn't know it was the cops until I came across the story this morning.

I honestly don't know. I couldn't tell from the video because the cops were wearing helmets.
If it was the cops though, I don't think it's a good idea.

It eliminated the night time rioting. After three nights of chaos.
Like I said, I can see why Marxists are upset about this.
Tonight, they are going to try to disrupt St. Louis County government in the hope that the county police will be pushovers.
The police chief was right they are criminals and need to be in jail. Only Bernie and Clinton supporters don't care what they break.
