No thread for this so I figured I would make one. I will continue to update this thread about recruiting news and offers for all WAC schools. Of course anybody else feel free to add to this.

CSUB commit Darrin Person Jr wins the Fresno Bee 2017 boys basketball player of the year. Very excited to see what this guy can do, he dominated in high school, averaging 20 ppg and 10 rpg this year and had an offer from Fresno State. CSUB is lacking big men this year, hopefully he can step in right away and contribute.

Another piece of news is Orlando Robinson Jr, 2018 6'7'' PF from Las Vegas has received an offer from CSUB. He also has offers from Southern Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico State. He is rated a 3 star recruit by Scout. Unfortunately can't find any highlights.

I'm sure that offer to Robinson came when Menzies or Weir was Aggie coach. Now that Jans is coach, I expect most of the Aggie recruiting prospects to be coming out of Texas and what is considered the "Missouri Valley Conference" region.
Yeah that's what I figured. Jans has strong ties to the Midwest right?
Well, Jans is from Iowa and coached JC ball in Iowa, Kansas, Texas, and Florida. His D1 experience came at Idaho, Illinois State, Wichita State, and Bowling Green. So I would say he mostly rooted in the Great Plains and Midwest regions.
New Mexico State has reached out to 2018 6'8'' SG TJ Smith from Wesley Christian in Illinois. This is the first interest or news in a recruit I have seen from Jans. He also has interest from Drake, Miami (OH), Loyola, Evansville, Wofford, Missouri State and Wichita State.
NMSU offers Morris Udeze Six Eight Post, Class of 2017. Has an offers from Illinois, Wichita State. Averaged 12.6 ppg and 7.7 rpg.
Well, at least there are now signs on the internet that Jans is busy recruiting. We will see what he can bring in to replace our losses. I still feel NMSU has a really good tactical coach who if he can recruit enough good talent, will be able to lead NMSU to another WAC Championship.
Class of 2018 PF Morris Udeze has received an offer from NMSU. 2 Star recruit of out Richmond, Texas. Also has offers from Lamar, Houston Baptist, New Orleans, and Murray State.
Udeze is class of 2017.

VC has him listed as Class of 2018

Yup, and Wichita State and Illinois have offered as well. This is why I am unwilling to make prediction of NMSU finish in our too early 2018 WAC standings. If Jans is as good as suggested as an X&Os and player developmental coach; and if he can land enough talent to fill NMSU's gaps, then "maybe" NMSU won't drop as much in strength as some people might think.
That is true, though the problem is most guys are already committed. Jans is going to have to really dig but this guy looks decent. NMSU needs more guard depth though I would say.

In the past talent guys have fallen into NMSU hands because they could not qualify elsewhere. Sidy Ndir originally committed to Texas A&M. And although gone now, Haley originally committed to Washington. This might not help us for 2017-18 but there might be someone Jans is willing to sign and putting him on ice for a year. But Jans definitely needs more guards now. In this case I can see Jans looking in toward the JC ranks and grad transfers for guards.

There are definitely some good guards available out of the grad transfer market.
Like Trey Dickerson but he cancelled his NMSU visit for Georgetown so not exactly a good sign.

I think he might be one who got away. But there are other players who can help NMSU. Jans just need to find the right one. The loss of Huggins hurt our depth. Before Weir left, I figured NMSU would run a three guard line up with Harris, Ndir, and Huggins... and Chuha and Wilkins in the paint. Now, Pennie or Jemerrio Jones slides into the 3 position. Our only other guard currently is Freshman Gabe Hadley.

Back to recruiting. Who else is actively recruiting for 2017? By now "most" WAC teams are finalizing their 2017-18 roster.
I would say most teams are pretty much done with their rosters for the upcoming season. Than being said should be interesting to see how all the rosters look like for WAC schools this fall.
Technically, I don't think GCU is "done". I can't imagine any more additions, but simple math says there are 2 young men who will find out shortly that they are no longer on scholarship at GCU. Little chance they'd stay on/around as nonscholarship players, but I suppose it is possible.
