Please know that I realize this has been addressed in detail in other threads.

I read, translate, amend, localize, and implement strategic plans for a living. It's what I do 60+ hours a week for a Fortune 500 Company. I digest P&L's for a living.

I write this not to jack myself off, but want to make one thing abundantly clear after digesting this report.

This report was written for one reason.
This report was obviously skewed to justify premeditated results.
This report was intended to be a conduit of numbers to overwhelm a reader.
This report is the most damning statement of record in this fight.
This report lacks ANY context to address any financial ramifications for the city, region, and state.
This report would be picked apart by any attorney working from their basement.

My God. How does the City, State, and University allow this type of activity to persist in 2014?
...which is precisely why I believe the Football Foundation should release a report in conjunction with the Collat School of Business that redlines this report to a pool of red ink and points out each fallacy, one by one.

And if our faculty won't touch the issue, take it to another prominent business school.
I believe the Collats would jump at the chance to completely trash the Carr report. Better yet, the Business school will probably use it as a case study next spring. The Collats have gone on record as saying they have no love lost for Watts, PBJ, the BOT, Carr, and their happy-go-lucky elephant's butt-trumpeting crazy train of BS!

This.
I did cost/benefit analysis work for a Fortune 500 company on major applications and equipment introductions and the Carr report is as a shabby piece of cost/benefit as I have ever seen. I can point out obvious flaws, but I lack the data and college sports financial knowledge to tear it apart properly and produce a proper analysis.

Someone like the Football Foundation should hire a reputable firm to produce a honest appraisal of the UAB football situation and publish a report which would be widely acceptable. I guarantee you it would not take over a year.

One of the chief reasons I thought to donate to the foundation was for something like that to be commissioned.
If the foundation announces their intent to commission such a study the donations to fund it would pour in. Fast.
Would someone please settle this for me? Who owns the medical school? Us or UAT? Could the BOT vote to have it "moved back to Tuscaloosa"?

Also, was Carr the same group that did the study and suggested Coach Clark? Wouldn't Coach Carr have an action against these guys? Thanks.
SoM diplomas say UAB on them, and they have seats on the UAB Faculty Senate. The BoT could try to claw it back, but if they did it anytime soon SACS would have their ass. Carr was in on the Clark hire but I don't know what grounds he would have with them as they rec'd his hire. Other than that they are not responsible for what UAB did.

And this was the same firm that helped to get Bill Clark to be hired in the first place, right? If so, does Bill Clark look like a "buckethead" to anyone here? That he'd leave his alma mater (Jax State) that had everything he was looking for as a head coach, to come to UAB knowing these scum were going to execute the program in one season? Somebody lied to this man, or withheld this info big time...I'd say Coach Clark is not a "buckethead" and has a damn good grounds for a lawsuit, doesn't he? Or is this something that the NCAA or SACS should be sniffing around in?

Clark has no action against anyone. He's getting paid.
Shame on Carr & ASSoc. for either being a willing participant in this or just being plain old gullible enough to let themselves get played by whoever $$$ them to do this!

On the SOM question, there probably isn't an easy answer. The entire UASystem is owned by the State of Alabama and run by the BOT. The BOT "runs" it all. However, if we leave the UASystem, we're in uncharted waters. Since the UABOT is set up in the Alabama constitution, a constitutional amendment would have to be statewide voter-approved. (And the wording of the amendment would be critical.). I think our weakest position would be to leave the UASystem as an independent U OF B. I don't think there would be any moving the SOM back to Tuscaloosa physically just a change in who administers the SOM. It would be like a contested divorce. Who gets the kid (SOM)? Whoever judge says gets the kid. (after years of hearings, rehearings, and appeals--unless there is an agreement and I doubt that the BOT is going be too agreeable). I don't know if it matters, but in one sense the SOM is an asset that UA brought into the marriage. Of course much of the growth at the SOM took place under UAB's direction. On the other hand, that growth also took place under the oversight of the BOT.

That may not be the case.

Well don't speak in cryptic riddles then.
When Clark's contract was paid out by UAB, they paid his entire contract including every possible bonus. He also bargained for six months pay for all assistants. He then signed an agreement not to sue over breach of contract and being misled before he signed. The question is how that was worded, if it cleared the university and/or the athletic department he still might be able to sue Carr or the foundation that was behind getting football shut down.

First off, I'm not a lawyer, second, I don't know how the agreement was worded, and third, I have no idea if there would be grounds to go after anyone other than UAB/the UAB Athletic department.

It's not a question of cryptic, it's a question of people asking questions that we don't have the knowledge to answer.

They knew. Watts told Carr he needed ammo to shut football down. That is obvious. Watts and his double dealing is nothing short of corruption and fraud and Carr was just as much a part of it by grossly overestimating numbers. Carr knew what Watts needed. These fat cats work together. What I would like to see is Watts phone records, particularly to Carr and to Bryant and his constituents and how frequently they were in contact.
It was all an "inside job" strictly between the fat cat big cheeses. That is SO OBVIOUS. Of course, "you don't know what you don't know". In other words it is "none of your business".
After all is said and done, it comes down to who can be questioned UNDER OATH in any investigation of the demise of the UAB athletic program(s). As long as all parties can lie and tell more lies to cover them, there is no way to get at the objective TRUTH. As we found with the Watergate investigation, talking under oath can be more revealing than all the whitewash in the land can cover.

Exactly...Reminds me of an episode of "Sanford & Son" where Fred confronted a prowler in his junk yard, asking out loud who are you and what are you doing there? The prowler (whose face I don't recall ever seeing in that episode, by the way) said in a snarky, smart-a**ed tone of voice.."You don't know, & you don't wanna know!"
