Hideous performance by UAB. Haase has no clue. Barbee an improvement?Maybe. I never would've guessed someone would be worse than mike Davis.

Speaking of having no clue, this guy is an idiot.
Completely overlooking that we were shorthanded.
Don't feed em.
UAB BBHC Haase has a top early signing class already coming in, and I think I recall a "sit out" for 2014-2015 as well as perhaps getting some more in April. There are many good reasons for giving Haase time to have his own players in place and to see how he does with them.

With the recent phenomenon of several hundred BB players transferring every year, we may see some wishing to blaze a trail to UAB if he can coach to a good record -- beginning in 2014-2015.
If we hadn't had one of our worst free throw performances of the year it still would have been a tight game, even with Rucker and C.J. out. We were shooting 20% on free throws until about 6 minutes left. Pretty bad :/.
Losing your second leading scorer because of a game related injury is one thing but losing the only other PF on the roster due to a party is just stupid of Rucker. He's a senior, he should know better than to do something stupid to get himself hurt.

I have faith in what Haase is building here. I hate that the 6 well really 7 seniors went out the way they did (including Quincy)

What happened to Swing, Williams, and Purifoy this year as far as 3 point shooting is beyond understanding? Others may have ideas.
Williams went from shooting above 36% to 28% from the 3.
Swing went from shooting 36% to 25% from the 3.
Purifoy went from shooting slightly under 36% to 32% but played less than 1/3 of his minutes.

Those 3 shoot anywhere near as well as they had their Junior year and we win a lot more games. We shoot anywhere near a respectable number from the free throw line also and we win basically all but 2 games. (Temple and LSU)

A. We don't know that Rucker was hurt at a party.
B. We don't know if he was doing anything stupid that caused him to get hurt.

Don't jump to conclusions.
In our late season home game against USM, we hit threes, free throws and short jumpers / lay ups -- and blew their doors off. We just lacked the consistency to play at that level in the remainder of our games. It was, however, enough to give us hope for the next season -- which starts NOW.
So I care because he's an "Assistant sports editor"... OK.
Just a newsroom lackey with an opinion. We did lose ugly, but he probably isn't even familiar with the team like we are. Maybe Haase didn't make nice enough with him. Who knows?

My criticism of Haase is for not playing Purifoy and Rideau more when we have had our shooting woes. Maybe it has to do with how they practice, but when Jordan can't throw it in the ocean and shooting just plain sux, then you've got to get those guys more looks.

I couldn't say if Haase has made mistakes in terms of game planning and X's and O's. Could he have done something, anything to improve our percentages, to improve our free throw shooting? To help us not miss so many layups? To defend the three better? Those were the downfall of this team.

Anyway, the play of our freshmen is quite encourgaging, and we have good talent on the way. I'm glad for a fresh start and am looking for light on the horizon.

This March has lost it's flavor, but I think we're on the right track. The Blazers simply need to start laying the bricks at the new Student Center across the street, and stop throwing them up at Bartow.

Yep and Yep

And, while I understand not focusing on them during the season, the offseason focus to include large amounts of free throw and outside shooting drills...
