A source has informed me that former UAB head coach Neil Callway will join Bobby Petrino's staff as o-line coach. http://bit.ly/xpkQEX

With rumors of WKU being invited to CUSA at the next expansion or as a replacement we could have a serious rivalry developing...

They deserve each other... That would make that game a "hot ticket" in this town! I say bring it on! I want UAB to mop the floor with the the Hilltoppers. If indeed, WKU is destined for C-USA, UAB must be locked and loaded for the initial showdown. Scorch The Commonwealth, "Blaze!"

And did somebody say "suckage" again?03-lmfao
The only question I have in the matter is - does this mean we are off the hook for paying him anything else or has the time where we were required to pay him passed?
I think Callaway's a hell of an offensive line coach. He was just promoted beyond his competence at UAB.

I also don't hold any ill will toward him.

I just don't want to be in a conference with Petrino.

Say this for the 'stache. He drew a line in the sand with the kid that visited WKU, so while they may still be pals, they're not THAT close.

I am a little surprised. I thought Callaway would land a more high-profile o-line gig than WKU.
Callaway was in line for an interview for the OL job at UA that Cristobal got. I think he was the next scheduled interview. After Cristobal was hired he was obviously not needed. I think his contract w/UAB officially ended recently(or is quickly coming to an end). Hence, he recent desire to coach again.
He is an excellent O-line coach. Glad he has found employment and will be off the UAB dime.
Does Blazr become a WKU fan now?

You mean hilltoppr
I hope we meet this year in a bowl game so I can throw candy bars all over the field.
Why would he be a WKU fan?

I honestly dont see Petrino staying at WKU long. I think 3-years is about the best case scenario.

You may be correct about Petrino moving on soon, and that is probably in his personal plans. BUT! Look at the other retreads who have sought a landing place at nonBCS "mid-major" schools in the past. O'Leary did not probably intend to still be at UCF in 2013 nor did Mike Price probably see himself retiring from UTEP. What probably will happen is that the quality of athlete he got at UARk will not show up at WKU and , as we saw, he winds up "stealing" players from the UABs of his new world, not the BCS Big Boys. In 2 years, high school players who knew him from UARk will be at other BCS schools and he will have to make his "rep" on players WKU usually brings in. If he can't manage a move to a BCS job by 2015, he too may retire from WKU one day. Can anyone remind me of another BCS FBHC "retread" who was "busted" to a nonBCS status and recovered to go back to a BCS "Home" as a FBHC?

Haha! 04-bow

Talk about winning the lottery. I'd have coached Arkansas to an awful season for half what they paid him. 03-lmfao
Petrino will be at a BCS school (or big 5) after next year.

Maybe not that fast, but I tend to agree. He's a weasel, but he's a helluva football coach. All it takes is one BCS team willing to sacrifice a little self-respect to win, and I'm guessing there are more than one.
There are one or two in this state.

A school far away from the epicenter of the matter.

Oregon flops this year following Kelly's departure.

I'm putting in my prediction for Petrino to become a Duck.

I don't think you had as much financial need as he did & he still had to go through bankruptcy

He is also accused of fraud in his bankruptcy proceedings...
