Butler Wins Women's Cross Country Title
Bulldogs Capture School's First A-10 Championship


PHILADELPHIA, Pa.--Butler University didn't waste any time winning its first Atlantic 10 Championship title.

The Bulldogs, led by junior individual winner Katie Clark, captured the 5K 2012 Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country Championship with 37 points. Clark won the race with a time of 16:55.9, which was run Saturday morning at Belmont Plateau.

"To be the first in the Butler Athletic department to win an A-10 championship is huge. I couldn't have asked for anything better than that. I'm over the moon with it," Clark said. "Coach is really happy too -- the whole team the atmosphere is amazing."

It was the first A-10 championship opportunity for Butler, who joined the league on July 1, 2012 along with VCU. Five Butler runners finished in the top 10, earning All-Conference honors and the Bulldogs finished with an average time of 17:51.76. Butler coach Matt Roe was voted the Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year and freshman Olivia Pratt won Most Outstanding Rookie honors

Butler Captures Men's Cross Country Championship

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.--Butler University won the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Championship Saturday with 38 points and an average time of 26:00.7. Temple senior Travis Mahoney was the individual winner with a time of 25:16.5. The 8K race was run at the Belmont Plateau.
