Bulldogs Capture School's First A-10 Championship

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.--Butler University didn't waste any time winning its first Atlantic 10 Championship title.

The Bulldogs, led by junior individual winner Katie Clark, captured the 5K 2012 Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country Championship with 37 points. Clark won the race with a time of 16:55.9, which was run Saturday morning at Belmont Plateau.

"To be the first in the Butler Athletic department to win an A-10 championship is huge. I couldn't have asked for anything better than that. I'm over the moon with it," Clark said. "Coach is really happy too -- the whole team the atmosphere is amazing."

It was the first A-10 championship opportunity for Butler, who joined the league on July 1, 2012 along with VCU. Five Butler runners finished in the top 10, earning All-Conference honors and the Bulldogs finished with an average time of 17:51.76.
